On the 24th, Volvo Cars Korea announced the inauguration of a training center at Ajou University and the donation of a practice vehicle to nurture talents who will lead the future automotive industry.

The opening ceremony of the training center and vehicle donation took place on the 23rd at Ajou University in Boryeong, Chungnam. About 20 key stakeholders attended the event, including Song Kyung-ran, Executive Vice President of Customer Services at Volvo Cars Korea, and President Lee Soo-hoon of Ajou University.

The Volvo Training Center established at Ajou University will operate the Volvo Cars Apprentice Training Program, which is a specialized technician training and employment-linked program. Through this, Volvo Cars Korea plans to sign employment agreements with students who complete the course and hire about 100 students as professional technicians over the next three years.

Additionally, to help students acquire the latest technologies and enhance their understanding of electric vehicles, Volvo Cars Korea has donated vehicles such as the ▲S90 T8 (plug-in hybrid) ▲S60 B5 (mild hybrid) ▲XC40 Recharge (pure electric vehicle) to Ajou University. These models are equipped with Volvo’s cutting-edge safety technologies and offer dynamic yet eco-friendly driving performance through their electrified powertrains.

Song Kyung-ran, Executive Vice President of Customer Services at Volvo Cars Korea, expressed, “We hope that the new training center and donated vehicles will contribute to nurturing talents responsible for safe and eco-friendly future mobility. Volvo Cars Korea will continue its efforts in active investment and talent development to enhance service competitiveness.”

Meanwhile, Volvo Cars Korea has been operating the Volvo Apprentice Training Program since 2018 to cultivate specialized talents. This program is aimed at automotive majors from leading domestic universities, and upon completion, participants are hired as official technicians at Volvo Cars Korea’s service centers. In addition, the company has been consistently engaging in activities to nurture future automotive talents, such as donating practice vehicles to Gachon University’s Automotive Department last year.
