Volvo Car Korea announced that their globally bestselling SUV, the ‘XC40 Dark Edition,’ sold out completely within just 4 minutes of its online launch.
Following the sell-out milestones of ‘XC40 Sage Green Edition’ in July and ‘S60 Dark Edition’ in October, which sold out in 3 and 9 minutes respectively, the XC40 Dark Edition has once again proven the dominance of the Swedish luxury brand in the imported car market.
The XC40 has attained immense popularity since its launch in 2018, with a delivery wait time of about six months. However, this new XC40 Dark Edition is available for immediate delivery, making it a golden opportunity for customers waiting to purchase the XC40.
Since its global debut in 2017, the Volvo XC40 has been recognized for setting new standards in the compact SUV market. Notably, it was awarded ‘European Car of the Year’ in 2018, marking the first time in brand history, and it has maintained the top sales rank in the European premium compact SUV segment for four consecutive years since 2020.
The sold-out XC40 Dark Edition is based on the top-tier Ultimate Dark trim, featuring a sleek single-color Onyx Black exterior, complemented by a high-gloss black design on the radiator grille, front and rear skid plates, and roof rails. Additionally, it emphasizes a unique design with 20-inch 5-double spoke black diamond cut wheels, differing from the existing 19-inch wheels. The exclusive blonde and black leather key case showcases Volvo’s distinctive essence.
Most importantly, luxury features that are not commonly found in its class have been incorporated, including Drift Wood, Swedish Orrefors® crystal gear knob, Harman Kardon sound system, and an advanced air purification system. Moreover, the latest ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) safety package, consisting of radar, cameras, and ultrasonic sensor arrays, provides the high-level safety heritage that Volvo is known for in the XC40.
The ‘Integrated T-map Infotainment Service 2.0,’ which boasts the highest local quality, supports a connected driving service based on Seoul’s next-generation intelligent transportation system (C-ITS), allowing real-time signal information and remaining signal time to be viewed, and providing guidance on optimal intersection crossing speeds. It also facilitates ‘personalized routine settings’ to execute various functions in line with one’s lifestyle. Along with 15 years of free OTA (Over-The-Air) updates and a 5-year subscription to the digital service package, it promises an even smarter driving experience.
Yunmo Lee, CEO of Volvo Car Korea, stated, “I appreciate the attention given to the XC40 Dark Edition, which encompasses Volvo’s complete package with state-of-the-art safety and comfort specifications as well as black detailing. We will continue to strive to introduce various limited edition models embodying Volvo’s unique sensibilities and charm.”
