Toyota Korea signed a business agreement for electric vehicle charging with telecommunications service provider LG Uplus on the 7th.

Starting with this business agreement, Toyota Korea and LG Uplus will continue to collaborate to expand charging networks and enhance customer convenience in line with the electrification era. They plan to progressively enhance charging infrastructure for electric vehicles starting with the installation of internal operation chargers at Toyota brand official dealer showrooms and service centers nationwide.

As part of this agreement, both companies will develop a membership service for customers purchasing electric vehicles. Membership holders can use a Toyota membership card to charge for free at LG Uplus’s electric vehicle charging service, ‘VoltUP’, up to 50,000 KRW for one month. This membership will be available for customers purchasing the 5th-generation Prius Plug-In Hybrid (PHEV), set to launch in the country this month, and will gradually expand with various promotional benefits.

Toshiyuki Nakahara, Executive Vice President of Toyota Korea, stated, “As carbon neutrality through electrification is emphasized as a necessity rather than a choice, Toyota is continuously working to meet customer needs by providing a variety of options, including hybrid (HEV), plug-in hybrid (PHEV), and battery electric vehicles (BEV).” He further explained, “With this business agreement, we aim to not only launch electrified models but also cooperate to enhance customer convenience through infrastructure expansion.”

Meanwhile, Toyota Korea has been sequentially introducing a diverse lineup of electrified vehicles that meet various customer lifestyles under the ‘Electrification for All’ strategy since February, including the Lexus RZ and RX, Toyota RAV4 Plug-In Hybrid (PHEV), Crown, Highlander, and Alphard, along with the upcoming 5th-generation Prius set to launch on the 13th.
