American drift artist Ken Block has unveiled a video in partnership with Audi featuring the Audi S1 Hoonitron. This video showcases the ‘Audi S1 Hoonitron,’ a prototype of a pure electric rally car developed at Audi Sport in Neckarsulm, Germany, inspired by iconic Audi models from the past.

In the video released by Audi, Ken Block showcases dynamic drifting, spectacular jumps, and donut drifts while accelerating through the streets of Las Vegas in the ‘Audi S1 Hoonitron.’ The legendary Audi driver Tom Kristensen, known for his feats in Le Mans racing, also appears, and various legendary racing models from Audi generated significant buzz during the filming.

The ‘Audi S1 Hoonitron’ features two electric motors and employs an all-wheel-drive system. Equipped with powerful performance and a carbon fiber chassis, it fully complies with the safety standards set by the FIA for motorsports.

Oliver Hoffman, Chief Operating Officer of Technical Development at Audi AG, stated, “With the Audi S1 Hoonitron, we are opening a completely new chapter. Developing a purely electric prototype that meets the requirements of our partner Ken Block was a significant challenge but simultaneously an enjoyable and fascinating experience for all teams involved. Witnessing the birth of ‘progress through technology’ in a completely new environment is truly wonderful,” he added.

The ‘Audi S1 Hoonitron’ is a dedicated model developed exclusively for Ken Block. Throughout the development of this vehicle, Ken Block and the vehicle development team maintained very close communication with Audi’s responsible departments to complete this project.

Led by designer Marc Lichtenstein, the Audi design team crafted a body design that is sure to evoke memories of the legendary ‘Audi Sport Quattro S1,’ which topped the Pikes Peak Hill Climb race.

The unveiled video includes not only the ‘Audi S1 Hoonitron’ but also features many special iconic models from Audi’s past. Racing models appearing in the video include the Audi 90 IMSA GTO (1989), Audi 200 Trans Am (1988), Audi Sport Quattro S1 Pikes Peak (1987), Audi Quattro Gruppe B A2 (1984), Audi R8 LMP, and the Le Mans Audi R18 e-tron quattro among other historical racing models from Audi.
