Porsche announced that the performance testing of the new 3rd generation Cayenne, which features enhanced performance and convenience due to the most extensive product upgrade in its history, is nearing completion.

Since its launch in 2017, Porsche has continuously improved the 3rd generation Cayenne through extensive upgrades affecting the powertrain, chassis, design, advanced equipment, and connectivity. Michael Scheetzle, head of SUV body engineering at Porsche, stated, “This new Cayenne represents one of the most significant product upgrades in Porsche’s history.”

Engineers at the Weissach Porsche Development Center introduced significant changes to the Cayenne’s chassis system along with a model lineup adjustment. They applied a new semi-active chassis that encompasses typical Porsche on-road performance as well as long-distance comfort and off-road capabilities. Moreover, extensive new digital displays and operations were introduced through expanded connectivity. The innovative lighting technology of the HD matrix LED headlights has enhanced both comfort and safety in the new Cayenne.

A complex and sophisticated testing procedure was required to perfectly tune the majority of the newly developed components alongside various new technologies. Testing manager Ralph Bosch stated, “We’ve conducted an overall and comprehensive testing program for the new Cayenne as if we were developing it from scratch.”

The vehicle integration tests aim to ensure that all components and systems function reliably and efficiently under any circumstances. Among these, durability tests simulate harsher conditions than what most customers will encounter, surpassing 200,000 kilometers within several months across various environments, from urban settings to rural roads and highways.

The new Cayenne prototype underwent testing for product quality and durability in various climates around the world to simulate demanding conditions for the vehicle. As a result, over 4 million kilometers of driving tests were conducted across four continents: Asia, Africa, Europe, and North America.

Dirk Rush, head of proto assembly and testing teams for the Cayenne, stated, “The rigorous off-road testing in Spain, extreme Moroccan sand dunes, icy tracks in Finland, and dynamic driving on the Nürburgring Nordschleife set conditions that might not be applied in daily life, but Porsche customers can rest assured that their vehicles will perform reliably in any terrain conditions.”

The all-new Porsche Cayenne is set to be unveiled in Spring 2023, with the domestic release date yet to be determined.
