SK Telecom announced the launch of a new campaign titled ‘Peel the Tape, Heal the Earth’ on June 5, in conjunction with World Environment Day, aimed at raising awareness about global warming.

This campaign will be carried out through the delivery boxes sent to customers who purchase from SKT’s official online store, T Direct Shop.

As online shopping becomes more common, the amount of paper boxes used for deliveries continues to rise. However, many people fail to properly remove the tape used for packaging when recycling, which decreases the efficiency of recycling.

In response, SKT designed a campaign that encourages T Direct Shop customers to remove the tape from their delivery boxes.

The delivery boxes used in this campaign feature a design created with white ink resembling the Arctic tundra, alongside an illustration of a polar bear that inhabits the tundra. The boxes are sealed with tape that reads, ‘Peeling the tape reveals the reality of the Arctic,’ to prevent customers from cutting open the box with a knife.

When customers peel off the tape, the printed white ink also comes off, revealing the image of melting glaciers and barren land. This is the core message of the campaign, conveying the seriousness of global warming.

Starting with polar bears, SKT plans to expand the campaign to include a series featuring various animals such as penguins and seals, raising awareness about the severity of global warming and encouraging participation in pollution prevention efforts from customers.

Ye-hee Kang, Vice President of SK Telecom’s Brand Strategy, stated, “SKT will continue to strive for various efforts for the environment with small yet significant ideas that engage many customers.”
