The Hyundai Sonata, the company’s flagship midsize sedan, has returned with a sleek and sporty impression.

On the 27th, Hyundai unveiled the design of the Sonata DE Edge, a full model change version of the 8th generation Sonata.

The name Sonata DE Edge emphasizes the sleek and linear design of the entirely redesigned Sonata and the unique styles of customers living distinctive lives.

The Sonata DE Edge represents a full model change after four years following its launch in March 2019, showcasing a broader and sleeker impression based on Hyundai’s design identity of “Sensuous Sportiness,” highlighting the dynamic feel of a sports sedan.

The front design features an integrated style where the headlamps, radiator grille, and air intake merge, emphasizing a dynamic and wide image. The daytime running lights (DRL) are designed as a “seamless horizon lamp” running horizontally across the body, adding a futuristic touch.

The silhouette showcases a low starting front end and a long hood that presents a sleek roofline reminiscent of a fastback, creating a sporty image and suggesting a dynamic posture as if the vehicle is about to spring forward.

The rear is equipped with a sporty profile highlighted by a sleek rear spoiler design reminiscent of high-performance sports cars. The horizontal lamps resembling the letter ‘H’ further emphasize a futuristic and stable image in harmony with the front horizontal lamps.

The interior design of the Sonata DE Edge focuses on enhancing the driving experience, creating a smart and spacious ambiance.

Hyundai has introduced a ‘panoramic curved display’ that connects a pair of 12.3-inch digital clusters and infotainment systems in a curved form, enhancing both visibility and luxuriousness for the driver.

The modern and simple wood-patterned garnish applied to the dashboard accentuates the horizontal lines in the interior space, providing an expanded sense of space. With the electronic gear shift column relocating the gear knob to the steering wheel, the console space is more relaxed, offering a clean interior image along with ample storage space.

The N Line model showcased on the same day adds sporty details such as an enlarged front bumper grille, 19-inch exclusive wheels, a rear spoiler, and dual twin-tip mufflers, enhancing the dynamic driving appeal.

A Hyundai official stated, “The Sonata DE Edge has completely transformed and become even sportier, making a clear presence as a contemporary sedan in the market. We plan to unveil improved product qualities alongside the newly designed model in future press releases, so please look forward to it.”

Hyundai is set to showcase the Sonata DE Edge at the ‘2023 Seoul Mobility Show’ on Thursday, the 30th, at KINTEX, Ilsan.
