Mercedes-Benz Korea announced on the 10th that it held the launch ceremony for the 17th Automotive Electric Traineeship (AET) for university students and the 8th Ausbildung program for high school students on the 6th, and has commenced the training course to foster automotive maintenance experts.

The launch ceremony took place at the ‘Mercedes-Benz Korea Training Academy’ in Yongin, Gyeonggi-do, and was attended by 16 trainees from the AET Class 17 and 20 trainees from the Ausbildung Class 8, as well as Kim Na-jeong, Vice President of Mercedes-Benz Korea, executives from authorized Mercedes-Benz dealers, Ausbildung trainers, and representatives from German embassy academic offices, the German Chamber of Commerce, and faculty from partner universities’ automotive departments, celebrating the training program that started on September 1.

The 17th cohort of the AET program, which Mercedes-Benz Korea has been operating since 2006, consists of graduates and prospective graduates from automotive-related programs at universities nationwide. After completing a total of 20 training courses and evaluations, they will receive AET certification and the qualification to become an official system maintenance technician recognized across the global Mercedes-Benz network, eventually being employed by authorized Mercedes-Benz dealers in Korea.

Additionally, the trainees in the 8th cohort of the Ausbildung program, which Mercedes-Benz Korea introduced in 2017, were selected from third-year students majoring in automotive or mechanical engineering at specialized high schools. They will join authorized Mercedes-Benz dealers, undergo on-site practical training for three years, and complete a regular college curriculum to earn an associate degree from cooperating domestic universities, Mercedes-Benz Korea maintenance technician certification, and a certificate from the German Chamber of Commerce.

Notably, Mercedes-Benz Korea has refined the AET and Ausbildung programs to ensure that participants can focus on developing repair capabilities in line with the electrification movement, supporting their growth into talents optimized for a sustainable future.

This initiative provides participants with the opportunity to experience and learn about Mercedes-Benz’s premium customer service capabilities while positioning themselves as key technicians in the electric vehicle industry, which is expected to lead the future automotive market.

Kim Na-jeong, Vice President of the Network Development and Training Academy at Mercedes-Benz Korea, stated, “Mercedes-Benz Korea is at the forefront of creating job opportunities for young people in Korea while nurturing next-generation tech talent through various educational programs aligned with the times. We will fully support the AET Class 17 and Ausbildung Class 8 trainees to complete their programs successfully and grow into the best professionals in the domestic service sector, beyond just Mercedes-Benz.”

Meanwhile, Mercedes-Benz Korea has produced over 440 trainees through the AET and Ausbildung programs, providing multifaceted support to ensure that the next generation of professionals in automotive sectors such as electric vehicles emerges in Korea.
