Lexus Korea announced its objective to leap into the next chapter of electrification. On June 21, they will officially launch the ‘RZ,’ Lexus’s first dedicated electric vehicle, along with the fully revamped 5th generation ‘RX’ model, with pre-orders starting from May 22 at official Lexus dealer showrooms.

The ‘RZ 450e’ integrates Lexus’s first dedicated electric vehicle platform, e-TNGA, optimized for electric vehicle packaging and high body rigidity, delivering a unique Lexus driving experience. It introduces a new design identity, the Lexus ‘Spindle Body,’ featuring an aerodynamic silhouette and dynamic proportions that pave the way for a new design direction.

The interior is designed based on the ‘Tazuna’ concept, which minimizes the driver’s line of sight movement, allowing for concentrated driving. It is equipped with a 14-inch touch display featuring Lexus Connect, a panoramic glass roof that offers exceptional openness, and Lexus’s first Radiant Heater, maximizing driver convenience.

The RZ 450e is equipped with a newly developed dual axle Direct4 all-wheel drive system, providing the unique Lexus driving signature, alongside a dedicated 71.4kWh high-capacity lithium-ion battery and the Lexus Safety System Plus for enhanced driving safety.

The RZ 450e will be available in two trims, Supreme and Luxury, and will be sold exclusively through an ‘Auto Care Lease’ which includes pickup and vehicle maintenance services to provide reasonable value for customers experiencing the Lexus electric vehicle.

Lexus Korea continues its efforts to reduce carbon emissions, having introduced the RX 400h, the first hybrid powertrain in Korea back in 2006. After seven years, the fully revamped 5th generation RX is officially launching.

This RX model offers three electrified powertrains to meet diverse customer needs: the hybrid model RX 350h, Lexus’s second plug-in hybrid model RX 450h+, and the RX 500h F SPORT Performance, which is Lexus’s first hybrid model with a 2.4-liter turbo engine.

Based on the GA-K platform, the RX features a new seamless spindle grille, integrated rear combination lamps, and a fresh rear logo design, completing its forward-looking aesthetics. The interior reflects the Tazuna concept and offers enhanced convenience features, such as e-Latch door handles and a 14-inch touch display with Lexus Connect, creating a comfortable and spacious environment befitting a luxury SUV.

The newly introduced RX suggests versatile driving performance tailored to various customer needs, combining it with Lexus’s unique driving sensations. The RX 350h features a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder gasoline engine paired with a hybrid system, while the RX 450h+ offers a plug-in hybrid configuration with the same engine and a lithium-ion battery, equipped with the E-Four all-wheel drive system for efficient driving.

Additionally, the RX 500h F SPORT Performance, equipped with Lexus’s first 2.4-liter 4-cylinder gasoline turbo engine and a hybrid system, incorporates the Direct4 all-wheel drive system, delivering powerful driving performance distinct from previous F SPORT models.

Executive Vice President Kang Dae-hwan stated, “The RZ and RX models play a pivotal role in Lexus’s leap into the ‘next chapter’ as electrified models aimed at satisfying the diverse luxury lifestyles of domestic customers. We hope for great expectations and interest in these two models, showcasing ‘Lexus-level electrification’ for carbon neutrality.”
