KB AutoTech announced on the 17th that it held a “Tech Day” at the Mercedes-Benz research center on the 7th of last month, where it presented technical proposals related to air conditioning systems.

At the beginning of this year, KB AutoTech received a request for proposals for an air conditioning system to be used in next-generation vehicles from Mercedes-Benz. In response, KB AutoTech organized a team made up of personnel from Mercedes-Benz specializing in air conditioning systems.

During the Tech Day held on the 7th of last month at the Mercedes-Benz research center in Stuttgart, Germany, they showcased a prototype HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, & Air Conditioning) system designed for next-generation electric vehicle platforms, along with an explanation of the applied technologies. The attending Mercedes-Benz employees expressed great interest and praised the next-generation technologies.

Participating in the regular technical proposal presentations hosted by Mercedes-Benz and Daimler Trucks each year, KB AutoTech has been recognized as a valuable partner, having been selected as an excellent developer by Daimler Korea in 2014. Over the past ten years, they have established themselves as a top-tier supplier for Mercedes-Benz.

To further expand mutual cooperation with Mercedes-Benz and develop diverse business items, they plan to launch their European branch in Frankfurt, Germany, by June this year.

Since 2015, KB AutoTech has supplied the low-noise VBM (Ventilation Booster Module) for the C-Class and E-Class Mercedes-Benz models. Starting in 2022, they have also supplied HVAC systems exclusively for rear seats to the GLS and the electric vehicle-specific EQS model, and from 2023, they’ve developed and mass-produced an ionizer for over 20 models, including the S-Class.

Currently, they are broadening their product portfolio and accelerating the development of technology for the air conditioning systems of Mercedes-Benz’s new EQS SUV, Maybach flagship models, and next-generation Daimler Trucks’ electric trucks to create future revenue streams.

A representative from KB AutoTech stated, “We have been recognized as a partner of Mercedes-Benz in the field of air conditioning systems thanks to our continuous product development and stable production supply, built through collaboration between labor and management, all focused on a common goal. With the establishment of our European branch, we will respond more rapidly and further solidify our cooperative relationship with Mercedes-Benz.”

Meanwhile, KB AutoTech, located in Asan, South Chungcheong Province, is a global air conditioning specialist with a 30-year history. They focus on producing and supplying applications such as automotive air conditioning systems and heat exchangers, maintaining transactions with domestic and international automotive manufacturers, and supplying related components for passenger and commercial vehicles, buses, and heavy equipment, thus contributing to the development of the domestic automotive industry.
