‘530e’

BMW Korea has officially launched the all-new plug-in hybrid model of its next-generation premium sedan, the New 530e, in South Korea.

The BMW New 530e is a premium plug-in hybrid (PHEV) sedan that combines the efficiency of a high-performance hybrid powertrain with the environmental benefits of a purely electric vehicle. Notably, it has been enhanced overall in terms of marketability compared to its predecessor, which had already garnered good sales and market evaluations.

The electric motor has been significantly upgraded in the New 530e. It is now equipped with a powerful 184 horsepower electric motor, which is 63% more powerful than the previous generation, combined with a 190 horsepower BMW TwinPower Turbo engine, delivering a combined maximum output of 299 horsepower.

Along with the increased output of the electric motor, the all-electric driving range has also been extended. The BMW New 530e features a high-voltage battery with a capacity of 18.7 kWh (Net), allowing for a maximum driving range of up to 73 km (based on Ministry of Environment certification) on a single charge. This is a 62% increase compared to the previous generation’s 45 km, and with a fuel tank capacity of 60 liters, it can achieve a maximum driving range of 751 km when both the battery and fuel are full based on certified fuel economy. The top speed in electric mode is 140 km/h, with an overall fuel economy of 15.9 km/l (engine + motor basis).

Additionally, like the BMW New i5, it comes equipped with air suspension at the rear axle, offering both agile driving performance and comfortable ride quality. It also boasts a commendable trunk capacity of 520 liters, akin to the gasoline and diesel models, ensuring excellent space utilization.

The BMW New 530e comes standard with luxury features such as the illuminated BMW Kidney Iconic Glow radiator grille, BMW Interaction Bar, Merino leather, crystal interior elements, and Harman Kardon hi-fi sound system, along with convenience specifications like comfort seats, 4-zone air conditioning, Driving Assistant Professional, and Parking Assistant Plus.

The domestic sales price of the New 530e starts at 89.2 million KRW for the base model and 92.2 million KRW for the M Sport package model (including VAT). For more details, inquiries can be made at the nearest BMW showroom or the BMW Communication Center (080-269-2200).
