Mercedes-Benz Korea has unveiled the lineup of two models from the third-generation facelift, the new GLS, and has officially begun sales in the country.

The Mercedes-Benz GLS first debuted in 2006 as the GL-Class and was reborn as the GLS in 2016, positioning itself as Mercedes-Benz’s flagship SUV. The new GLS is a facelift of the third-generation GLS launched in May 2020, and it is available in two variants: the new Mercedes-Benz GLS 450 d 4MATIC and the new Mercedes-Benz GLS 580 4MATIC. Deliveries for the new GLS 580 4MATIC have begun this month, followed by the gradual start of deliveries for the new GLS 450 d 4MATIC.

Killian Telen, Vice President of the Product, Marketing, and Digital Business Division at Mercedes-Benz Korea, stated, “The new GLS has undergone top-level upgrades in all aspects, including exterior and interior design, advanced technology, and convenience features, befitting a flagship SUV,” adding, “This facelift model, which enhances luxury and comfort, will further solidify its reputation as the ‘S-Class of SUVs.’”

The exterior of the new GLS demonstrates a more luxurious and majestic presence with subtle changes, including a larger radiator grille based on the existing third-generation design, a new bumper design, signature rear lamps, and a new brand projection logo. Additionally, two new exterior colors, ‘Manufaktur Alpine Grey Solid’ and ‘Sodalite Blue’, have been added. The spacious interior showcases the latest multifunction steering wheel, new interior trim, color combinations, leather seat color options, and chrome air vents first seen in the Mercedes-Maybach GLS, offering a top-quality interior.

The new GLS is equipped with the latest telematics NTG7 and a second-generation MBUX (Mercedes-Benz User Experience) infotainment system, providing a more intuitive and digital user experience. Additionally, the MBUX Interior Assistant has been newly added to recognize the movements and gaze of the driver and front passenger, helping them intuitively control car functions such as phone calls and reading lights.

Moreover, it features advanced driving assistance systems and the latest convenience features to support both on-road and off-road driving, including the Driving Assistance Package Plus, MBUX augmented reality navigation, parking package with 360-degree camera, off-road driving modes, and a transparent hood to assist visibility under the hood.

Additionally, the new GLS is equipped with the Burmester® surround sound system, multi-contour front and rear seats, an acoustic comfort package, 100W rear dual USB charging ports, an energizing package, and an air balance package to create a pleasant and comfortable indoor environment. The MBUX rear-seat entertainment system, rear comfort package plus, and powered side window sunblinds for rear seats are also standard features, enhancing comfort for rear passengers. The new GLS 580 4MATIC offers a luxury 6-seater configuration as an optional feature.
