BMW Korea has officially opened the ‘BMW Charging Station’, an electric vehicle charging facility at the Hilton Hotel in Gyeongju, Gyeongsangbuk-do.

The Gyeongju BMW Charging Station consists of one fast charger and three standard chargers, capable of charging up to eight electric vehicles simultaneously. This facility is open to all electric vehicle drivers operating in the country, not just those with BMW and MINI brands.

The Gyeongju BMW Charging Station features a design that reflects the local cultural heritage of Gyeongju, where traditional cultural assets are well-preserved. The architecture of the charging station incorporates traditional Korean design elements inspired by Hanok, such as the unique eaves and lattice patterns, and unusually emphasizes a Korean sentiment by displaying the signage in Hangul stating ‘전기차 충전소’ (Electric Vehicle Charging Station) instead of English.

Last year, BMW Group Korea opened the largest charging facility in the country capable of charging 80 electric vehicles simultaneously at the BMW Driving Center in Incheon, Yeongjong Island, and has been actively expanding its electric vehicle charging infrastructure by establishing another BMW Charging Station that can charge 16 electric vehicles at the Paradise City in Incheon. As of December 2022, BMW Group Korea has a total of 877 charging stations.

BMW Group Korea plans to continuously expand the shared electric vehicle charging infrastructure in the country. By presenting BMW Charging Stations at leisure facilities such as hotels and resorts across regions including Gangwon, Gyeonggi, Gyeongnam, Seoul, and Jeju, they aim to build charging infrastructure centered around the daily lives of drivers in large shopping malls, office concentrated areas, and parks.

Through this initiative, they plan to construct over 20 BMW Charging Stations nationwide by the end of this year, aiming for a total of over 1,100 charging facilities.
