BMW Korea’s head of the APAC-Korea Tech Office, Julian Klaus, received the Prime Minister’s commendation for his contributions to market expansion in South Korea during the 59th Trade Day ceremony hosted by the Korea International Trade Association.

The Trade Day ceremony is held annually to encourage exports and recognize the efforts of companies and individuals who have contributed to the expansion of domestic trade. This year, awards were presented to organizations and trade professionals who achieved high export results despite challenging trading conditions, including supply chain disruptions and rising raw material prices.

Julian Klaus, overseeing the technology discovery project for Korean companies at BMW Korea, has conducted over 40 projects with various sectors of Korean enterprises, with some companies becoming primary and secondary suppliers to the BMW Group, thereby earning recognition for pioneering the Korean market.

BMW Group operates the ‘BMW Startup Garage’ program across six countries, including Germany, the United States, China, Israel, Japan, and Korea, supporting tech-related startups aiming to advance technology or create sales channels in the automotive field.

This program provides more than just financial support; it validates the commercialization possibilities of unfinished services or technologies from venture companies and purchases the resulting prototypes, serving as a stepping stone for promising startups’ technologies to reach global markets.

BMW Korea is introducing various Korean companies involved in AI, autonomous driving, new materials, and manufacturing process technologies to the BMW Group headquarters, and plans to enhance its social contributions and domestic investments to help Korean companies enter the global market through ongoing technological partnerships.
