Iveco will participate in the Dakar Rally 2023, taking place in Saudi Arabia from January 31 to February 15. After achieving strong results in the 2022 season with three drivers finishing in the top 10, Iveco is gearing up for a new challenge with a revamped team and powerful rally trucks to once again prove its excellence in performance and durability.

The new season will feature the ‘Boss Machinery Team De Rooy Iveco’ and the ‘Euroc Team De Rooy Iveco’ working together. Iveco will officially support both teams by providing a total of four rally trucks along with engines and replacement parts.

The racing trucks for the 2023 season are based on Iveco’s heavy-duty truck, the ‘Powerstar’. They are equipped with a specially designed 13-liter Iveco Cursor engine created by FPT (Fiat Powertrain Technologies), producing a peak output of 1,000 horsepower. In addition, the latest technology from FPT has been applied to the suspension and tire pressure optimization systems.

Fabio Santiago, head of marketing and product management for Iveco’s truck business, stated, “We expect that Iveco’s Powerstar trucks will demonstrate unparalleled performance under the challenging conditions of the world-renowned Dakar Rally in Saudi Arabia. Our team showcases a powerful combination of experienced pilots who share a passion for competition and a determination to push themselves and their vehicles to the limit.”
