Genesis has unveiled its first coupe-style SUV concept model, the GV80 Coupe Concept.

On the 3rd (local time), Genesis introduced the GV80 Coupe Concept for the first time at the Genesis House, a brand’s cultural complex located in the Meatpacking District of Manhattan, New York City.

The four-seater SUV ‘GV80 Coupe Concept’ is a model that combines practicality and sportiness, designed with various lifestyles in mind. Genesis has embodied its commitment to developing a performance-oriented yet emotionally engaging vehicle through this concept, based on its design philosophy of ‘dynamic elegance’ and the perfect harmony of contrasting elements.

The front design is characterized by its dual quad lamps and the ‘Double G-Matrix’ patterned crest grille. The four air vents on the front bumper create optimal airflow for engine compartment cooling.

The most noticeable aspect from the side is the long hood and spacious dash-to-axle ratio, which reflect the rear-wheel drive characteristics. This proportionality is further accentuated by the ‘Parabolic Line’, an arched line that runs across the body.

The vehicle’s elegant coupe silhouette contrasts well with the muscular fenders, adding a strong styling touch. Genesis emphasizes its distinctive design competitiveness with a badge reading ‘Designed by Genesis.’

In addition, the 5-spoke aluminum forged wheels and the carbon fiber roof lower the vehicle’s center of gravity and minimize weight, enabling dynamic driving.

The rear features Genesis’ signature dual line design, expressed seamlessly in the rear lamps. Additionally, the trunk top features an aerodynamic rear spoiler and lip that generate downforce at high speeds, enhancing driving stability.

The bold design of the GV80 Coupe Concept is further emphasized by the applied magma color.

Hyundai Motor Group’s Chief Creative Officer, Luc Donckerwolke, explained, “The magma color symbolizes confident and passionate Korea. It has a calm yet humble first impression, but also embodies an assertive aspect reflecting Korean traits.”

The interior design, which creates a unique harmony of ‘elegance’ and ‘sportiness’, captures attention as well.

Particularly, the 3-spoke steering wheel features components such as ▲ grid-pattern dual stitching ▲ orange piping ▲ carbon fiber fabric ▲ black nappa and suede leather to emphasize the sporty feel within the cabin.

The four bucket seats enhance body support during cornering, providing safety and comfort for passengers. The carbon fiber backrests, painted the same color as the vehicle’s exterior, further highlight the outgoing coupes’ characteristics.

Genesis has enhanced the structural rigidity of the body by installing a G-Matrix strut brace behind the second-row bucket seats.

Luc Donckerwolke stated, “The Genesis brand has evolved since its inception, showcasing luxury sedans such as the G70, G80, and G90, and over the past seven years, we’ve added vehicles that meet diverse lifestyles, such as the GV70 and GV80. We will continue to introduce emotional models that transcend boundaries by emphasizing performance and dynamic characteristics.”

Meanwhile, Genesis will also showcase the ‘GV80 Coupe Concept’ alongside key models including the ▲ G90 ▲ GV80 ▲ GV70 electrified models ▲ G80 electrified model ▲ GV60 at the 2023 New York Auto Show on the 7th (Friday).
