According to S&P Global Mobility’s registration data, the Ford Mustang, celebrating its 59th anniversary this year, has been revealed as the world’s best-selling sports car over the past decade.

Ford reported that while the Mustang is sold in various countries worldwide, the highest sales remain in the U.S., accounting for 78% of global revenues. Additionally, markets where Mustang sales increased in 2022 included Germany (17.0%), the UK (14.4%), Switzerland (14.9%), and the Middle East (7.4%).

Dave Bozeman, Vice President of Ford Blue and Ford Customer Service, stated, “We are proud to represent the entire Mustang family, especially our passionate Mustang owners and fans. This achievement honors the Mustang as the best-selling sports car in the world for ten consecutive years.”

Meanwhile, the new 7th generation 2024 Mustang is set to add another chapter to the history of this icon, delivering the look, sound, and appeal that has made it the best-selling sports car over the past decade. The new Mustang will feature two new engines: a 2.3L EcoBoost and the most powerful 5.0L Coyote V8 of the Mustang GT. This new Mustang is expected to be sold in over 100 markets worldwide, launching in North America this summer and in South Korea in the second half of the year.
