The Kia ‘EV6’ and Genesis ‘GV60’ have received high praise in a recent electric vehicle comparison conducted by the renowned German automotive magazine , reaffirming the competitiveness of Hyundai Motor Group’s dedicated electric vehicle platform, E-GMP.

This commendation is particularly significant as it surpasses other representative models based on electric vehicle platforms from various brands in Europe, such as the Skoda Enyaq Coupe (MEB) and the Nissan Ariya (CMF-EV).

The comparison focused on four models competing fiercely in the European compact electric SUV market, evaluating them across seven criteria: ▲ Body ▲ Convenience ▲ Powertrain ▲ Driving Performance ▲ Connectivity ▲ Environmental Impact ▲ Economic Efficiency.

The EV6 captured first place in the driving performance and economic efficiency categories, achieving solid scores in all areas and amassing a total of 580 points, surpassing the Skoda Enyaq Coupe (577 points) and Nissan Ariya (537 points) to claim the overall top spot.

Genesis’s first dedicated electric vehicle, the GV60, registered a total of 576 points, just one point shy of second place, but achieved the highest score (520 points) alongside the EV6 in six crucial performance and feature evaluations, excluding economic efficiency.

In the powertrain section, considered a key competitive advantage for electric vehicles, the EV6 earned 103 points (2nd place) while the GV60 received 104 points (1st place), demonstrating the rapid charging speed and superb acceleration of the E-GMP platform’s 800V power system. (For reference, Enyaq Coupe scored 98 points, and Ariya 97 points).

Additionally, the EV6 recorded a braking distance of 33.3m (cold) from 100km/h to a complete stop, surpassing the Enyaq Coupe and Ariya by over 3m, earning the highest score (79 points) in the driving performance category. It also garnered the highest score of 60 points in the economic efficiency assessment, which considers pricing, maintenance, and warranty.

Meanwhile, the EV6 triumphed at the ‘2022 European Car of the Year’ awards, becoming the first domestic brand vehicle to win this accolade, beating out several strong contenders, including the basic model of the Enyaq.

Furthermore, the EV6 claimed the ‘2023 North American Utility Vehicle of the Year’ award this year and was recognized as ‘2023 World Performance Car’ at the ‘2023 World Car Awards’, showcasing its global excellence.

Similarly, the GV60 won the ‘2023 German Car of the Year’ in the premium category last November and has garnered positive reviews from global media outlets such as Car and Driver and What Car.

With Hyundai Motor Group’s electric vehicles based on the E-GMP platform receiving continuous praise, Kia is further solidifying its position in the global electric vehicle market, having launched the large electric SUV ‘EV9’ in June.
