Volvo Cars Korea announced on the 9th that it will hold ‘Volvo Road Day’, the final event of the 2023 Hey Plogging campaign aimed at environmental sustainability.

The ‘Volvo Road Day’, the grand finale of the 2023 Hey Plogging campaign, will take place from August 17 (Thursday) to 19 (Saturday) at Sokcho Beach in Gangwon Province. In line with the summer vacation season, this initiative encourages families and friends to clean up the beach, which tends to accumulate litter, fostering the practice of carbon neutrality. The event will seek participants on-site from vacationers visiting the beach during the event period.

The event area will feature a photo zone symbolizing the end point of the Volvo Road, a recycling zone where collected trash can be immediately separated, and a carbon neutrality zone where participants can assess the proportion of recycled materials from the total waste collected and verify actual carbon reduction amounts. Various eco-friendly experiences will be available.

Participants wishing to join the beach plogging will be provided with a plogging kit (available for the first arrivals each day), along with additional rewards such as the Volvo picnic mat and recycled keychain based on the amount of recyclable waste collected. Additionally, participants can receive branded goods by uploading photos with essential hashtags on social media after joining the plogging event. (While supplies last).

The ‘Volvo Road 40,075!’ campaign, conducted through the running/walking platform RunDay app, is designed with the concept of running the distance of a trip around the earth (40,075 km), and the participants’ enthusiastic involvement led to achieving the goal in just under two weeks. As a token of gratitude for all participants, Volvo Cars is giving away Starbucks gift cards to the first round of participants and will launch the same challenge again from August 3.

Lee Yun-mo, CEO of Volvo Cars Korea, stated, “Thanks to active interest and participation, the 2023 Hey Plogging and Volvo Road campaign are successfully being carried out. The value of the safety of the Earth and carbon neutrality is achieved through the collective efforts of all individuals, so we ask for everyone’s support until the end of the campaign.”

Meanwhile, the ‘2023 Hey Plogging, Volvo Road’ campaign executed by Volvo Cars Korea aims to create a cleaner ‘Volvo Road’ on the Earth by participating in various types of plogging events, consisting of ▲individual plogging challenges via RunDay app ▲local plogging with plogging crews ▲offline plogging events hosted by Volvo Cars Korea.
