KG Mobility has selected ‘Doraisu Village’ located in Damyang-gun, Jeollanam-do as the first eco-friendly electric vehicle village in Korea and held a ceremony to donate the first Torres EVX.

KG Mobility stated, “The UNESCO-designated Geo-Village ‘Doraisu Village’ aligns with the environmentally friendly image that has been preserved for 400 years without degradation, and the naming similarity to ‘Torres’ amplifies the symbolic significance of this donation event.”

During the donation ceremony, KG Mobility installed a sign at the entrance of ‘Doraisu Village’ proclaiming it as an ‘Eco-Friendly Electric Vehicle Village’—a first in the country—and conducted the delivery ceremony of the first Torres EVX vehicle with about 60 village residents. However, the Torres EVX operational vehicles are scheduled for delivery in November when they will be handed over to customers. To enhance accessibility and convenience for village residents, EV charging facilities will be installed considering the usability of the electric vehicle.

Moreover, the Torres EVX, which combines SUV style with EV advantages, will serve not only as a special means of transportation for the elderly in underserved areas to visit hospitals and grocery stores but also as an important transport option for village experiential activities, making the meaning of this donation even more special.

In addition, the first Torres EVX vehicle, which boasts outstanding space and safety features, will function as the ‘Green Mate Mind Car’ reflecting the wishes of ‘Doraisu Village’ for an eco-friendly community. Starting with ‘Doraisu Village’, there are plans to establish and distribute EV charging facilities called ‘Green Mate Mind Chargers’ in rural areas suffering from transportation disadvantages.

On another note, ‘Doraisu Village’, which means ‘people gather where water flows’, is located in a mountainous area in Damyang-gun, Jeollanam-do, boasting rich geological, cultural, and ecological resources and history within the Mudeungsan UNESCO Global Geopark. Notably, through active community development efforts, it was designated as a Geo-Village in 2020, and it was selected as one of the ‘Top 100 Rural Villages to Live and Visit’ by the Rural Development Administration in 2020, enhancing its value as a traditional themed village with experiential farms and folk games.

Jang Chae-won, the village head of Doraisu, expressed gratitude on behalf of the village to KG Mobility for donating the first Torres EVX, saying, “The elderly in our village had experienced significant inconvenience traveling to hospitals and grocery stores, but thanks to the donation of the space-efficient Torres EVX, we are now able to alleviate that inconvenience.”

Kim Beom-seok, Executive Director of KG Mobility’s Marketing Division, stated, “Donating the first Torres EVX to Doraisu Village, designated as the first eco-friendly electric vehicle village in Korea, holds special meaning as it is not only friendly in name but also aligns perfectly with our environmentally friendly image. I feel deeply rewarded for fulfilling the corporate social responsibility of alleviating the mobility difficulties faced by the elderly in underserved mountainous areas.”
