Tesla Supercharger

Tesla Korea will open its rapid chargers, known as Superchargers, to electric vehicles from other brands starting November 22, 2023, in the country. This move aims to provide a pleasant charging experience for all electric vehicle owners, aligning with Tesla’s mission to accelerate the world’s transition to sustainable energy.

Initially, approximately 570 V3 version Superchargers will be opened at 84 Supercharger stations across the country, with plans for gradual opening of all sites. Charging fees will vary by Supercharger site, and users can check fees by clicking on each charging station in the Tesla app.

To use the Tesla Supercharger, users must download the Tesla app, register, and add a payment card information. By long pressing the button on the Tesla charging connector, the Magic Dock, compatible with other vehicles’ Combo 1 inlets, will unlock. Users then select the charging station’s charger number in the Tesla app, connect the plug, and start charging.

The Supercharger network is the world’s largest rapid charging network owned by Tesla, designed to provide a seamless charging experience for Tesla owners and reduce charging-related stress. Simply connect the charging plug to the vehicle, and charging begins automatically. Unplugging the connector stops the charging, and payment is conveniently processed using the card information linked to the Tesla app. Currently, there are over 50,000 Superchargers installed worldwide, and as of November 22, 2023, Korea has a total of 1,007 Superchargers at 148 locations.

Tesla Superchargers boast a 99% uptime through real-time monitoring, which includes continuous management from parts replacement to firmware and software upgrades. This reliability means no stress from charger malfunctions or errors, according to Tesla Korea.

On November 17, the 1,000th Supercharger was opened in Korea, and various events are being held at the station where it was installed to celebrate this milestone. Tesla Korea plans to continually expand the installation of Supercharger stations to support the growth and development of the electric vehicle industry in the country.
