In 2023, the most frequented destinations by drivers in their 20s were rivers and beaches. Those in their 30s often visited cultural complex spaces, while individuals in their 50s and 60s preferred agricultural markets and nature-oriented healing spots.

Tmap Mobility has released its ‘Tmap Trend Diary 2023 Recap: Location Edition’, analyzing driving data from the TMAP platform’s navigation system. The data is based on the driving habits of 20 million TMAP users from January to November.

The most visited location by drivers in 2023 was Incheon International Airport, likely due to a rebound in overseas travel that arose post-COVID-19. This year, aircraft operations surged by 97.3% compared to last year, with passenger traffic at 79% of pre-COVID numbers from 2019. Other popular destinations among TMAP users included Starfield, Gwangmyeong Station, and Gimpo Airport.

When looking at the data by age group, those in their 20s sought out water-related locations predominantly. Following Yeouido Hangang Park, the next most popular spots were Eulwangri Beach, Gwangalli Beach, Wolmido, and Oido Red Lighthouse. Except for Coex and Everland, all the top 10 popular spots were near rivers and seas.

In their 30s, the most visited cultural complex was Coex, while for the 40s and 50s, Sokcho Tourist Fisheries Market ranked high, and those in their 60s frequently visited Garak-dong Agricultural and Marine Products Wholesale Market. Notably, the 60s demographic differed slightly, as they included ‘Suncheonman Garden’ in their rankings, showing a tendency to enjoy nature.

This ‘Location Edition’ is the third trend diary, following the ‘Driver Edition’ released in March and the ‘Rental Car Edition’ released in September. Tmap Mobility plans to continue publishing a series of insights based on TMAP’s mobility data throughout the year, including ‘Search Edition’ and ‘Service Summary Edition’. This content can also be accessed from the TMAP platform’s home screen.
