“Restoring customer trust is a priority,” says GM Korea President Hector Bejaral.
On the 2nd, GM Korea held its annual New Year press conference at the House of GM in Gangnam, Seoul. Attending the conference were GM Korea President Hector Bejaral, Gustavo Colosi, Vice President of GM Sales, and Yoonyoung Mok, Chief Marketing Officer. Last year, GM Korea recorded exports of the Trailblazer (214,408 units) and the Trax crossover (181,950 units), making it the top exporter of Korean-made vehicles.
President Bejaral mentioned, “We increased domestic production volume by nearly 500,000 units last year, contributing to GM Korea’s turnaround to profitability,” and added that “this year, we aim to produce over 500,000 units, which will aid the Korean economy.” He also mentioned, “New models such as the Chevrolet Colorado, Equinox EV, Cadillac XT4, and Lyriq will enter the domestic market this year.”
Details regarding specific domestic market sales growth plans have yet to be disclosed. Regarding the company’s tarnished image due to rumors of withdrawal from the Korean market, Bejaral stated, “Restoring customer trust is our top priority. To this end, we will open the Seoul Service Center and Dongseoul Service Center this year.”
“We consider domestic market sales as important as exports,” emphasized Bejaral. GM’s strategy is not to quickly boost sales all at once, but rather to methodically recover their position step by step.
Chief Marketing Officer Yoonyoung Mok also expressed confidence, stating, “We are continuously putting forth various suggestions to increase our domestic market share. Once the concrete details are clearer, we will have the opportunity to announce them.”
