LG Uplus announced on the 22nd that it has integrated the sports community platform ‘Spooky’ into Toyota Korea’s U+Drive-based infotainment system ‘Toyota Connect’, providing differentiated customer value to vehicle drivers.

The vehicles equipped with Spooky include all Lexus and Toyota models featuring ‘Toyota Connect’, such as the ▲Lexus LS ▲Lexus US ▲Highlander ▲RAV4 ▲Crown. The Spooky service will be able to receive remote wireless software updates, and customers subscribed to Toyota’s U+LTE plan can use it without additional registration.

The ‘Spooky’ service offers a total of four sports to watch: baseball, soccer, volleyball, and billiards. Vehicle owners can enjoy uninterrupted viewing of various sports VOD videos, including live broadcasts from the Netherlands’ league, even in shaded areas such as tunnels and underground parking lots.

Spooky will provide a live commentary service called ‘input commentary’ for real-time baseball games in line with the 2024 professional baseball season. Additionally, users will receive real-time notifications inside their vehicles about their favorite teams and players’ game schedules.

Since launching the U+Drive-based infotainment platform in the Lexus New Generation NX 450h+ and NX350 in 2022, LG Uplus has been steadily strengthening its partnership with Toyota Korea by integrating the system into Lexus and Toyota vehicles.

U+Drive is LG Uplus’s integrated infotainment service platform that supports a convenient car life. It includes a representative music streaming site, podcasts, and high-definition U+ Mobile TV, replacing DMB, providing diverse media services that can be enjoyed by different age groups.

LG Uplus aims to enhance its competitiveness by releasing various content and services for vehicle infotainment, including high-quality music streaming services, OTT services, and car games, all based on a stable communication infrastructure. The company plans to secure differentiated competitiveness by continuously applying its own produced content and B2C platforms to vehicle infotainment.

Kang Jong-oh, Head of Smart Mobility Business at LG Uplus, stated, “Thanks to the positive evaluations from Toyota and Lexus customers, we are continuously strengthening our infotainment collaboration with Toyota Korea. We will continue to innovate the car life experience for our customers by applying various technologies and continuously enhancing functions.”
