Lotte Rental announced on the 29th that it will expand its collaboration with EVSys, a subsidiary of Lotte Innovate, in the electric vehicle charging business.

The two companies plan to create synergies in the electric vehicle (EV) charging business based on their respective expertise in the mobility sector, which Lotte Group is fostering as a key new business. Initially, they will jointly pursue sales and marketing for the installation of EV chargers and operation of charging stations. Additionally, they aim to collaborate in the operation of EV charging infrastructure and connect their respective EV charging and rental platforms to enhance the customer experience.

Lotte Rental expects that this collaboration will strengthen its competitiveness in the environmentally friendly vehicle rental and leasing business, which is a primary focus. Currently, EVSys operates over 4,000 chargers in urban adjacent areas nationwide, and plans to deploy an additional 7,500 chargers by the end of this year. By integrating Lotte Rental’s nationwide sales network, which is the largest in the industry, with EVSys’s charging infrastructure, the convenience and accessibility of EV charging services for customers are expected to improve significantly.

Lotte Rental will actively assist in attracting new customers by utilizing its know-how and infrastructure in various specialized services related to electric vehicles. Once the two platforms are connected, the pool of customers utilizing both companies’ electric vehicles and EV charging services is expected to expand, with enhanced service benefits such as rental car discounts and charging discounts.

Lotte Rental operates the largest fleet of environmentally friendly vehicles under a single corporate entity in Korea, leading the distribution of eco-friendly vehicles and the electrification trend in the country. It also offers various specialized EV products and services designed to increase accessibility to electric vehicles. Lotte Car Rental provides a complimentary EV Care Program called ‘EV Perfect Plan’ to customers with long-term rental contracts for electric vehicles. Additionally, it has launched the industry’s first home electric vehicle charging service approved based on the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy’s special case certification and an electric vehicle battery care service developed in collaboration with LG Energy Solution. Lotte Auto Lease, its commercial vehicle-focused finance subsidiary, operates a charging subscription product called ‘Biz Pass’ for customers of environmentally friendly commercial vehicles.

EVSys is a comprehensive electric vehicle charging operation platform company under Lotte Innovate (formerly Lotte Information & Communication), possessing top-level capabilities across all areas of the EV charging industry, from design and manufacturing to platform operation and maintenance. It is engaged in global business development in North America, Thailand, and Indonesia, backed by technological expertise in all types of EV chargers, including slow, fast, and ultra-fast, with an annual production capacity of up to 20,000 units.

EVSys’s integrated operation platform for electric vehicle charging, ‘EVSIS’, connects applications, PC web, and chargers to provide EV users with services ranging from locating charging stations to reservations, payments, and evaluations. Operators are supported by an online platform for management, remote control, monitoring, real-time failure management, and settlement.

A representative from Lotte Rental stated, “Lotte Rental has been focused on expanding the distribution of electric vehicles and enhancing customer experiences to meet the market’s demands for green mobility. This memorandum of understanding is also part of the advancement of our electric vehicle business. We aim to accelerate the shift to electrification through our collaboration with EVSys, the leading charger market player in Korea.”
