‘Mercedes-Maybach GLS Front View’

Mercedes-Benz Korea has launched the first facelift model of its top-tier SUV, the Mercedes-Maybach GLS, titled ‘The New Mercedes-Maybach GLS’, with customer deliveries beginning on the 11th.

Returning after approximately three years since its launch in 2021, ‘The New Mercedes-Maybach GLS’ features an attractive exterior color including two-tone paint and new seat cover designs that enhance the luxury of the interior. Additionally, it has been upgraded to showcase Maybach’s unique luxury features like the Maybach Driving Program and E-Active Body Control suspension, providing first-class comfort.

In South Korea, it will be offered in two variants: ‘The New Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600 4MATIC’ and the limited ‘The New Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600 4MATIC Manufaktur’ with special exterior colors and interior trims.

Kilian Tellan, Vice President of Product, Marketing, and Digital Business at Mercedes-Benz Korea, stated, “This new model of the Mercedes-Maybach GLS perfectly embodies Maybach’s brand philosophy of ‘high-level luxury’ through meticulous upgrades, and it will offer ultimate luxury in design, driving, safety, and convenience features to satisfy customers looking for a top-tier SUV.”

The interior and exterior of the new Maybach GLS proudly showcase its unique status among SUVs through delicate changes. The grille features vertical high-gloss chrome bars, while the ‘Maybach’ lettering at the top emphasizes its presence as a premium model. This lettering is also adorning various parts of the vehicle including the door sills, rear, and wheels. High-quality chrome trims on the front bumper and B-pillar cover, along with air inlets decorated with the Maybach pattern, further showcase Maybach’s luxury on the road.

‘Mercedes-Maybach GLS Rear Side View’

The New Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600 4MATIC features 23-inch Maybach multi-spoke forged wheels, while the Manufaktur version comes standard with 23-inch Maybach 5-spoke forged wheels.

Additionally, the Manufaktur model includes aesthetically appealing two-tone paint that enhances the overall exterior. The base color offerings are Obsidian Black and Kalahari Gold two-tone, with new options of High-Tech Silver and Nautic Blue emphasizing modern luxury.

The interior has also been upgraded with the finest materials and craftsmanship details.

The most significant change in the interior is the new seat cover design. The high-quality diamond-pattern quilting applied to the seat surfaces and backrest central areas highlights Maybach’s hallmark luxury, featuring Exclusive Nappa leather specifically for the Maybach GLS. The Manufaktur model, in particular, offers an option for a sophisticated Helios color, expanding the choice.

Furthermore, three interior trim options are available, including ‘Manufaktur Flowing Line Black Piano Lacquer’, ‘Brown Open Pore Walnut Wood’, and ‘Anthracite Open Pore Oak Wood’, all adding to the luxury feel.

This facelift model includes a multi-contour seat that provides a comfortable massage for the back and lumbar area with air chambers and heating functions in both front and rear seats. Additionally, a practical air purification package helps create an optimal interior environment by filtering harmful air and PM2.5 fine particulate matter through air quality and fine particle sensors.

Moreover, the Energizing Package Plus adjusts the interior climate, ambient lighting, and massage functions based on the occupants’ mood and preferences, alongside a heating package that includes heated armrests and door panels.

‘Maybach GLS Second Row Interior’

The distinct comfort can also be experienced through sound. The new Maybach GLS is equipped with an Acoustic Comfort Package that maximizes external noise blocking and insulation through special glass and cushioning materials, boasting excellent noise and vibration reduction performance. This is complemented by the standard Burmester® High-End 3D Surround Sound System, which leverages Dolby Atmos® sound technology with 29 high-performance speakers and a system output of 1,610W, providing deep and rich audio reminiscent of a concert hall within the vehicle.

The new Maybach GLS comes packed with premium features for rear seat passengers. The Executive seats, finished in the finest Nappa leather, feature electric reclining capabilities, allowing the backrest to tilt up to 43.5 degrees, with extending leg rests that maintain comfort during long drives. Additionally, the rear electric side window sunblinds block intense sunlight and outside views.

Rear seat occupants can enjoy movies and music or surf the web using the MBUX rear-seat entertainment system, which includes two 11.6-inch touchscreens. Two high-quality Mercedes-Benz wireless headsets and a 7.4-inch detachable MBUX rear-seat tablet for system operation are also provided.

The revamped MBUX infotainment system offers three display styles (Classic, Sporty, Discreet) and three modes (Navigation, Assistance, Service), allowing drivers to customize settings according to their preferences. It also supports both wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, enhancing connectivity convenience.

The new Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600 4MATIC delivers a powerful and efficient performance based on its robust powertrain.

The 4.0-liter V8 M177 gasoline engine installed in the new Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600 4MATIC produces 557 horsepower and a maximum torque of 78.5 kg·m. Integrated with a starter-generator and a 48-volt electric system, it provides an additional 16kW of output when necessary, assisting with fuel economy.

An exclusive Chauffeur Mode, named the ‘Maybach Driving Program,’ is installed in the rear seat to prioritize passenger comfort. In this mode, the transmission shifts quickly and smoothly for a stable ride experience.

Moreover, E-Active Body Control suspension combined with Airmatic suspension suppresses rolling, pitching, and lifting, individually controlling the spring and damping forces at each wheel, ensuring first-class comfort regardless of road conditions. Particularly, the cornering mode tilts the body while cornering, enhancing ride comfort, while the off-road driving mode facilitates recovery in terrains like sand.

‘Maybach GLS Driver’s Seat’

The new Maybach GLS is equipped with the latest version of the Driving Assistance Package Plus as standard. This includes Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC, which helps maintain distance from the vehicle in front and supports automatic speed regulation, braking, and starting; Active Brake Assist reacting to stationary vehicles at speeds up to 100km/h; and Active Steering Assist detecting lanes using the 360-degree camera. Additionally, the Pre-Safe® Impulse Side function inflates side bolsters to protect front seat occupants during a side impact.

The Multi-Beam LED technology employs 84 high-performance LEDs per module, supporting various lighting modes based on driving conditions such as Highway and Cornering modes. The Magic Vision Control feature sprays washer fluid from integrated nozzles in the heated wipers, ensuring that the driver’s view remains unobstructed while keeping the windshield clean.

Moreover, an upgraded parking package equipped with a 360-degree camera aids in safe and convenient parking. Specifically, starting from this facelift model, the 360-degree camera enables a transparent hood feature, providing a virtual view of the area under the front of the vehicle that may be out of the driver’s line of sight when off-roading. This also displays the position and status of the front wheels and steering.

In addition to this, various convenient driving features are included as standard, such as MBUX augmented reality navigation that displays virtual driving assistance lines based on footage captured by the forward camera for intuitive guidance; a Toll Settlement System that shows payment amounts and balances on the central display; a digital key transfer feature allowing the driver to unlock the doors remotely via the Mercedes Me app while keeping the key inside the car; and dual USB charging ports in the rear with 100W output for easy charging of smartphones and tablets.
