General Motors achieved a staggering market share of nearly 40% in the US small SUV market in the first quarter of 2024.

This remarkable success is attributed to the Chevrolet Trax Crossover and the Trailblazer, which have garnered immense popularity in the US market. Both models ranked in the top 3 for small SUV sales in Q1, further validating their exceptional quality and appeal on a global scale.

According to J.D. Power’s Power Information Network (PIN), GM recorded a 39.5% market share in the overall US small SUV market in Q1, marking the highest sales among manufacturers. This means that 4 out of 10 consumers purchasing small SUVs in the US chose GM models.

In the Q1 US small SUV market, the Chevrolet Trax Crossover and Trailblazer recorded market shares of 18.6% and 11.5%, respectively, both making it into the top 3 for small SUV sales. When combined with the sales figures of derivative models sold under GM’s subsidiary brands, the results of both models approached 40% of the total small SUV sales in the US.

The Chevrolet Trax Crossover has emerged as a key player in the US small SUV market, experiencing a 15 percentage point increase in market share compared to Q1 of last year. In fact, the Trax Crossover became the number one selling small SUV in monthly sales in February, surpassing the Subaru Crosstrek and achieving mega-hit status.

With the success of popular models like the Chevrolet Trax Crossover and Trailblazer, GM sold a total of 594,233 units in the US market during Q1, becoming the automotive company with the highest sales volume.

Including derivative models produced and exported from GM’s Korean operations, the Chevrolet Trax Crossover and Trailblazer continue to break sales records in the domestic market as well. Since its launch in the domestic market, the Trax Crossover has never once slipped from the number one position in the monthly sales of the small CUV segment, leading the crossover market with an overwhelming sales share of about 73% last year.

The Trax Crossover and Trailblazer have set remarkable records in the overall automotive export market, as per the Korea Automotive Mobility Association (KAMA), with 216,833 and 214,048 units sold internationally in 2023, respectively, securing the first and second positions.

Since the commencement of shipping in March last year, the Trax Crossover has shown incredible sales speed, achieving the highest export volume in the market in less than a year.

The outstanding quality and high appreciation for the Trax Crossover and Trailblazer are validated by numerous awards conferred by reputable national and international automotive assessment bodies and media.

The renowned American automotive magazine Car and Driver selected the Chevrolet Trax Crossover as one of the ‘2024 Best 10 Trucks & SUVs,’ based on the vehicle’s overall value and outstanding driving capabilities.

In the ‘2024 ALG Residual Value Awards’ announced by a famous American market research firm, the Trax Crossover was recognized as the best residual value model in the Micro SUV category. It was also recognized in the Initial Quality Study (IQS) for sharing the same powertrain and platform as its sibling model, the Buick Encore GX, which was ranked first in quality.

Meanwhile, Chevrolet launched the 2025 Chevrolet Trax Crossover equipped with special edition models and new connectivity services last month, officially kickstarting sales.

The 2025 Chevrolet Trax Crossover introduces a new REDLINE trim that enhances the existing LS, RS, and ACTIV trims with bold red accents on its design, and it incorporates the OnStar service that allows remote control (start, door lock, horn & hazard lights), vehicle condition information (driving records, tire pressure, fuel level, engine oil life, fuel efficiency), and vehicle diagnostics through a mobile app.
