LG Electronics is leading the market for AI air conditioners as sales of its innovative ‘Affectionate Intelligence’ models soar.
The sales of AI-equipped models of LG’s 2024 Whisen air conditioners in the domestic market increased by about 30% in the first quarter compared to the same period last year. This year, LG introduced new Whisen products such as the ‘Tower I’, ‘Tower II’, and ‘Whisen View’ with the notable ‘AI Smart Care’ feature. Notably, the Whisen Tower II accounted for more than 70% of total sales of AI air conditioners in the first quarter, establishing itself as the top-selling product.
LG Electronics is redefining artificial intelligence (AI) as ‘Affectionate Intelligence’ to emphasize its commitment to empathizing with customers and providing practical benefits in their daily lives, including convenience, safety, and care.
The AI Smart Care feature of LG’s Affectionate Intelligence air conditioners analyzes the space to provide optimal comfort without requiring customers to manually adjust the strength or direction of the airflow. It quickly lowers the indoor temperature to the desired level using rapid airflow, then maintains comfort with a gentle breeze that doesn’t directly hit the customer. The air purifier function activates automatically when air quality becomes poor.
Additionally, LG’s Whisen AI air conditioners offer tailored convenience by allowing customers to take pictures of their living space and designate their location using the LG ThinQ app. The AI analyzes the images and adjusts the airflow direction accordingly. The premium LG Whisen Tower I 9 series features radar sensors that allow the AI to track the user’s location in real-time for optimal cooling.
Moreover, the 2024 LG Whisen air conditioners include a cleaning management function that ensures a sanitary airflow path. This includes features such as ▲ Filter Clean Bot ▲ Ultra-fine filters that suppress bacteria growth ▲ Allergy care filters certified by the British Allergy Foundation (BAF) ▲ Antimicrobial treatment of the clean case at the back of the heat exchanger, which has high moisture levels ▲ Heat exchanger cleaning ▲ AI drying ▲ UV-LED fan sterilization ▲ Clean exhaust outlet, ensuring thorough and hygienic maintenance of the air conditioner.
The ‘home appliance subscription service’ that reduces initial costs while providing ongoing maintenance is another reason for the popularity of LG’s Affectionate Intelligence air conditioners. This has particularly resonated well with the Young Generation (YG) customers who are accustomed to subscribing to products and services.
Customers can subscribe to a wide range of LG’s premium products, including water purifiers, refrigerators, washing machines, air conditioners, stylers, TVs, laptops, and more, encompassing 19 categories of home appliances and IT products.
