The Mercedes-Benz Community Service Committee has announced that the ‘GREEN+ Urban Forest’, created in partnership with the Seoul Metropolitan Government for climate protection, was first revealed to the public on the 16th through its opening at the Seoul International Garden Expo at Ttukseom Hangang Park.

The GREEN+ Urban Forest comprises 5,520 carbon-reducing trees, providing a space where citizens can enjoy nature in the urban environment. The total area of this corporate action garden is 1,300 square meters, contributing to air quality improvement and reducing the heat island effect.

The GREEN+ Urban Forest features various tree species, such as the majestic oak, blue angel, and birch, which are planted to help reduce carbon emissions and fine dust. It is harmoniously integrated with a total of 200,000 square meters of corporate collaboration gardens, artist gardens, student collaboration gardens, and citizen collaboration gardens created in the Ttukseom Hangang Park, providing visitors with green spaces.

The newly unveiled GREEN+ Urban Forest is part of a project established in April 2022 through a memorandum of understanding with the Seoul City and the Child and Future Foundation. It will be open to the public at the Seoul International Garden Expo at Ttukseom Hangang Park until October 8.

Meanwhile, the opening ceremony for the ‘2024 Seoul International Garden Expo’ held on the 16th was attended by over 300 people, including Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon, Mercedes-Benz Community Service Committee member Lee Sang-guk, representatives from nine participating companies, garden designers, and citizens.

Lee Sang-guk from the Mercedes-Benz Community Service Committee expressed, “We are delighted to collaborate with the Seoul Metropolitan Government to create the GREEN+ Urban Forest, providing citizens with a pleasant urban forest experience.” He added, “The Mercedes-Benz Community Service Committee has planted a total of 21,047 trees in Seoul and Uljin so far and will continue to foster sustainable green culture through various carbon neutrality activities.”
