‘The New Wrangler 4Xe’

Jeep officially launches the ‘All-New Wrangler 4xe’ in South Korea.

The All-New Wrangler 4xe is the plug-in hybrid (PHEV) version of the ‘All-New Wrangler’ introduced last January, and it marks the first facelift model released three years after its global unveiling in 2020. The Wrangler 4xe is a bestselling model in the U.S., having sold over 67,000 units last year alone, with 43% of Wrangler customers opting for the 4xe version.

As the top trim of the Wrangler line, the All-New Wrangler 4xe maximizes the advantages of electrification while not compromising on off-road performance. It boasts quiet operation and excellent fuel economy, paired with the strongest combined output in the Wrangler lineup, offering perfect companionship for daily driving and powerful energy for off-the-beaten-path adventures.

The exterior of the All-New Wrangler 4xe maintains the ‘Off-Roader DNA’ found in the internal combustion engine version, incorporating eco-friendly design elements represented by blue accents throughout, including the Jeep logo and the ‘4xe’ badge on the tailgate. It also features newly fitted 20-inch aluminum painted gray wheels exclusive to the 4xe model.

The interior is designed to intuitively display battery levels and electric driving status through a 4xe-specific color gauge cluster. Easy vehicle operation is facilitated by the E-Selec driving mode button (Hybrid, Electric, eSave) mounted on the steering wheel and the Uconnect 5 infotainment system with the hybrid electric app.

Additionally, boasting the largest touchscreen in Wrangler history at 12.3 inches, the vehicle includes popular local features such as TMAP navigation, heated and powered front seats, a heated steering wheel, and side curtain airbags, applying various advanced and convenient functions to support comfortable driving.

The powertrain consists of a 2.0-liter gasoline turbo engine paired with two electric motors and a 350V lithium-ion battery. It features an 8-speed automatic transmission suitable for regular driving conditions, coupled with low-range gearing that facilitates true off-road experiences, delivering a stable driving feel in urban settings and powerful performance on rough terrains. The gasoline engine produces 272 horsepower with a torque of 40.8kg·m while the two electric motors generate maximum outputs of 63 hp and 145 hp with torque ratings of 5.5kg·m and 26kg·m, respectively, allowing for a sporty driving experience. When fully charged, it can drive purely on electricity for 34 km and a combined range of over 630 km (with both fuel and fully charged battery).

The All-New Wrangler 4xe also excels in impressive fuel efficiency typical of PHEVs. Its combined fuel efficiency rating is 12.0 km/L, significantly reducing overall fuel consumption thanks to the plug-in hybrid technology applied.

The vehicle features driving assistance systems that shine in various road conditions, including the 2.72:1 Selec-Trac full-time 4WD system, electronic stability control (ESC) with anti-rollover systems and trailer sway damping, and hill start assist (HSA) as standard. Despite being an electrified model, it maintains its off-road identity, complemented by features like adaptive cruise control (ACC) with stop and go functionality, advanced brake assist systems, full-speed forward collision warning plus system, remote start system, and blind spot/rear cross-path detection systems for enhanced safety in urban environments.

In South Korea, it is sold as a single-trim Sahara 4-door model, with prices for the Sahara 4-door hardtop starting at 97.3 million won and the powered top at 99.9 million won.

Mr. Bang Shil from Stellantis Korea emphasized, “With the All-New Wrangler 4xe, we have expanded the choice of wranglers that combine the authentic off-road capabilities with quietness, efficiency, and a stable yet sporty driving feel. With the All-New Wrangler 4xe, you can satisfy your commuting needs as well as your adventures towards freedom.”
