Volvo Cars and the Brooklyn-based fragrance brand D.S. & DURGA have introduced the limited edition ‘SWOODISH’, developed to bring the essence of Swedish nature to consumers worldwide.
D.S. & DURGA is a niche fragrance brand founded by husband-and-wife team, David Seth Moltz and Kavi Ahuja Moltz. Known for their unique and unconventional scents that combine elements of art, music, literature, and history, they craft stories that evoke specific emotions or moods.
The collaboration produced ‘SWOODISH’, which combines soothing woods that instill tranquility and calmness with soft orris roots, reflecting the purples of late summer sunsets, modeled after D.S. & DURGA’s iconic candles. The name ‘SWOODISH’ is a witty fusion of ‘Swedish’ and ‘Woods’.
Lisa Reeves, Volvo Cars’ head of interior design, stated, “The sensory atmosphere of Volvo Cars begins with the excellence provided by nature and Scandinavian light. The introduction of the natural SWOODISH candle in collaboration with D.S. & DURGA is an attempt to bring the comforting warmth of Scandinavian forests into homes.”
To prepare for this collaboration, D.S. & DURGA’s founders visited Gothenburg, experiencing the unique design approach and culture focused on minimalism, simplicity, and functionality found in the Swedish landscape.
David Seth Moltz, co-founder of D.S. & DURGA remarked, “We visited Volvo in Sweden and encountered the cozy scent of forests and lakes spanning across Scandinavia while inside a vintage car. Additionally, we learned to drive one of Volvo’s pure electric vehicles, discovering that it was chicly designed and fun to explore. ‘SWOODISH’ will transport anyone to a serene version of our Sweden within our minds.”
Meanwhile, the SWOODISH candle will be available for a limited time on the D.S. & DURGA website (dsanddurga.com) and Volvo Car’s SWOODISH website (VolvoCarSwoodish.com) in select countries. Furthermore, Volvo Cars will partner with the nonprofit organization ‘One Tree Planted’ that focuses on planting trees and restoring forests, as well as creating habitats for biodiversity, donating a portion of the proceeds through the Volvo For Life Fund.
