Beam Mobility has announced its personal mobility usage data for the first half of 2024. Since its entry into the domestic market, Beam Mobility has not only seen continuous growth in usage but has also played a significant role in the first and last mile of transportation in both metropolitan and regional areas.

The usage of Beam Mobility’s personal mobility (PM) services has steadily increased since its launch in the domestic market. In the second quarter of 2024, the usage of its electric scooters surged by approximately 68% compared to the previous quarter. This upward trend is evident not only in the usage numbers but also in the distance traveled, as the total travel distance increased by about 37% during the same period. This can be attributed to effective data analysis, optimization, and a steady influx of new users alongside increased frequency of use.

As the utility of PM in fulfilling first and last mile roles becomes validated, significant growth has also been observed in areas outside of the metropolitan centers, where public transportation access is relatively limited. According to Beam Mobility’s usage data, there has been a sharp increase in electric scooter usage in suburban cities such as Ansan, Hanam, Wirye, Bucheon, and Bupyeong. In Ansan, electric scooter usage in the first half of 2024 skyrocketed by over four times compared to the same period last year, achieving the highest growth rate. Similarly, usage in Hanam and Wirye saw an increase of about 2.7 times, while Bucheon and Bupyeong recorded an increase of nearly 2 times. This indicates that Beam Mobility’s electric scooters have established themselves as a major transportation means in these suburban areas.

In regional cities, Daejeon and Daegu have shown remarkable growth. Daejeon’s usage increased by 60%, while Daegu reported a 43% rise. This robust growth can be attributed to campaigns aimed at building a culture of safety around electric scooters, collaboration with local communities, and effective reallocation strategies based on city-specific usage data.

Moreover, a high percentage of users have been utilizing electric scooters as their commuting method. According to Beam Mobility’s usage data for the first half of 2024, electric scooter usage during peak hours from 8 AM to 9 AM is approximately 48% higher than average usage times.

A representative from Beam Mobility stated, “The substantial increase in usage in suburban cities suggests that electric scooters have contributed significantly to reducing commute times as a first-last mile transportation option. We aim to expand our services to ensure that not only metropolitan areas but also suburban and smaller cities can benefit from personal mobility solutions.”
