‘Kakao Mobility has revealed how to make the most out of Kakao Navi during the holiday season, including preferred route suggestions and information about free parking lots.’

Kakao Mobility has unveiled how to utilize Kakao Navi to its fullest during the Chuseok holiday, offering guidance on free parking lots and preferred routes to help ease the parking concerns of travelers. They have also put in place an emergency response system to ensure stable navigation services.

During the holiday period, Kakao Navi provides information about public parking lots that local governments open for free, assisting travelers with their parking dilemmas. Users can easily check nearby free public parking information by searching for ‘Chuseok free parking’ on the Kakao Navi app, and get navigation guidance at the same time.

For drivers who may find navigating unfamiliar routes daunting amid severe traffic congestion, the ‘Previously Traveled Route’ or ‘Frequent Route’ options allow for a more comfortable journey along preferred paths. By entering previously traveled departure and arrival points, users can receive recommendations for the ‘Previously Traveled Route’ or ‘Frequent Route’. Alongside route options like ‘Recommended Route’, ‘Free Road’, ‘Minimum Time’, and ‘Priority on Major Roads’, users can also easily compare travel time, distance, and toll costs.

For drivers experiencing eye fatigue from long drives, the ‘High Visibility Mode’ is a useful feature. Particularly beneficial for low-vision users and older drivers, this function allows users to select ‘High Visibility Mode’ under navigation settings after searching for their destination. Icons, text, signs, and lane information on the navigation screen can be viewed larger than in the standard app screen. The app also excludes the use of green, which can be confusing for users who have difficulty distinguishing between red and green in traffic situation notifications.

Addtionally, Kakao Navi provides future travel information based on big data and traffic prediction algorithms. After searching for a destination, users can click on the clock icon in the top left corner to change their departure time and check the expected travel time based on that departure. This feature will be particularly useful for users looking to avoid extreme congestion and plan their travel in advance.

Lee Seung-won, head of the navigation service team at Kakao Mobility, stated, “To prepare for the surge in traffic during the Chuseok holiday, we are responding to real-time traffic increases with the ‘HPA (Horizontal Pod Autoscaler)’ technology, which automatically adds servers, and operating an emergency monitoring system during the holiday period,” adding that “We plan to provide travelers with faster and more reliable travel services.”
