In the first month of the second half of the year, the domestic car sales totaled 110,152 units, a slight decrease of 1.7% compared to the previous month’s 112,132 units. Kia reclaimed the top spot among domestic car brands thanks to the one-two punch of the Sorento and Carnival.
Kia recorded 46,238 units sold, marking a 4.4% increase from the previous month’s 44,284. The Sorento accounted for 7,596 units, up 4% from 7,307 units last month. The Carnival saw a decline, selling 7,050 units, a drop of 12.9% from 8,097. The Sportage was sold 6,235 times, which is a 7.2% increase from 5,815 units last month.
Hyundai recorded 45,306 units sold, down 5% from the previous month’s 47,700. The Grandeur sold 6,287 units, representing a 10.2% increase from 5,703 units in the previous month. The Sonata’s sales were reported at 5,532 units (including 2,425 taxis), which is a 3.2% decrease from 5,712 units (including 2,664 taxis) in the previous month. The Santa Fe recorded 5,248 units, reflecting a 5% rise compared to 5,000 units in the prior month.
The Genesis brand sold 10,703 units, which is an 11.6% decrease from the previous month’s 12,104 units. The GV70 sold 3,839 units, down 18.2% from 4,639 units in the prior month. The G80 recorded 3,143 units sold, which is a drop of 14.8% from 3,690 units last month. The GV80’s sales figures dipped slightly to 2,837 units, down 0.9% from 2,863.
KG Mobility sold 4,237 units, up 3.3% from the previous month’s 4,102. The Torres recorded 1,310 units sold, showing an 8% decline from last month’s 1,424. The Rexton Sports sold 1,193 units, marking a 4.5% increase from 1,142. The Torres EVX jumped significantly to 778 units, representing a whopping 37.2% increase from 567 units.
General Motors sold 2,199 units, showing a 15.7% upward trend compared to the previous month’s 1,901 units. The Trax crossover recorded 1,606 units sold, which is a 9.8% increase from 1,463. The Trailblazer had 350 units recorded, reflecting an increase from 331 units last month. The Traverse saw significant growth, with 106 units sold, a remarkable 71% increase compared to 62. Colorado recorded 65 units sold, marking the start of sales for the new model.
Renault sold 1,469 units, down 28% from the previous month’s 2,041. The QM6 accounted for 738 units, the New Arkana for 680, and the SM6 only 31 units.
