‘At SK Telecom’s Devotion Tech Day, a developer explains the AI technology they experienced.’

On the 8th, SK Telecom announced the holding of the 6th Devotion Tech Day, where 102 developers shared their experiences from a self-driven AI technology study over a 12-week period.

‘Devotion (DEVOCEAN)’ signifies ‘an ocean of inspiration for developers’ and is a leading developer community spearheaded by the SK ICT family. SK Telecom holds the ‘Devotion Tech Day’ every quarter, showcasing technologies and solutions developed in-house as well as collaborative achievements from both internal and external sources.

The theme of the 6th Devotion Tech Day, held at the SKT Tower SupEx Hall, was the growth stories of the 102 developers united under the ‘Devotion Open Lab’ over the span of 12 weeks. In April, SKT established the ‘Devotion Open Lab’, an AI-centric study program led by specialists in the field.

For approximately three months, the ‘Devotion Open Lab’ has operated a total of 10 study programs revolving around AI-related topics that are gaining attention in the current development ecosystem, such as ▲Generative AI ▲Open LLM ▲LLM Ops (Operations) along with backend and infrastructure essential for AI developers.

During this Tech Day, four demo booths presented project outcomes including ▲LLM-based teddy bears ‘Echo-Teddy’ for emotional support for children with autism ▲data extraction and query automation solution ‘Lens’ ▲’LLM EduBank’ for automatic problem generation ▲user travel itinerary solution ‘TGO (Travel Go)’.

Also, outstanding participants from the ‘Devotion Open Lab’ will showcase results from their studies, including preparing for travel with Microsoft ‘GraphRAG’, exploring AI platform ‘Kubeflow’, and real-world applications of Open LLM/Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG).

SKT emphasized that this ‘Devotion Tech Day’ is of greater significance than past events, which were conducted in a simple lecture format, as it serves to share the extensive knowledge exchange among the most developers actively engaged in AI development.

Kang-Hwan Kim, a university student developer presenting on the theme of programming languages and tools at this Tech Day, expressed, “Through the ‘Devotion Open Lab’, I was able to share diverse perspectives with developers regardless of age or affiliation, resulting in a positive exchange. As a university student contemplating a career in development, it has been the best experience.”

Chang-Hwan Ahn, who is in charge of corporate culture at SKT, stated, “Over the past 12 weeks in the ‘Devotion Open Lab’, we have strengthened bonds among developers and led the way in fostering a quality development culture that drives the exchange and advancement of the latest AI technologies. This Devotion Tech Day is a prime example of demonstrating the power of collective intelligence, and SKT will continue to work on enhancing the competitiveness of domestic developers in an ever-changing AI ecosystem.”
