The Korean delegation has returned home with a silver medal after securing the runner-up position at the Audi Twin Cup. The ‘Audi Twin Cup’ is a technical competition where representatives from 26 countries across the globe come together to showcase their maintenance skills. On the afternoon of the 22nd, in Seoul’s Jongno district, an interview was conducted with Lim Min-hyuk (Deputy Manager, Gojin Motors), Kim Dong-hyun (Assistant Manager, Gojin Motors), Kim Hyun-soo (Assistant Manager, Yukaro Automobile), and Park Tae-hee (Representative, Hanseo Motors) who participated in the service sector of the Audi Twin Cup.

The Audi Twin Cup is an annual service skills competition held at Audi headquarters in Germany. It was first launched in 1996, and this year marks its 28th occasion. The Korean delegation has been recognized as a strong contender, garnering comprehensive victory in 2013, runner-up in the service sector in 2015, service sector champion in 2016, overall runner-up in 2021, and runner-up in the AS sector in 2024.

According to Kim Dong-hyun from Gojin Motors, the competition is structured in a manner that presents problems similar to customer complaints. The service staff and technicians must cooperate effectively to address the issues at hand.

This Twin Cup isn’t just about resolving individual problems; it’s crucial to resolve the presented problems through teamwork. The familiarity with Audi’s maintenance processes also plays a significant role.

To prepare for this, the Korean delegation, selected through domestic qualifying rounds, gathered twice a week at a training center in Pyeongtaek to study and rehearse various anticipated issues for international competition. Kim Hyun-soo, working in Busan, shared his enthusiasm about making the long drive of hundreds of kilometers twice a week for the sake of the competition, stating, “I didn’t find it tiring at all.”

The combination of regular work procedures and their intensive study sessions led to this significant achievement of runner-up status. Upon confirmation of their second-place finish, gratitude was expressed towards Lee Jin-sil, the after-sales service manager, who was mentioned first in their thoughts for her support throughout their preparation. Additionally, they also extended thanks to Audi Korea and dealer associates who assisted them in numerous ways.

The delegation identified the most formidable competitors as the United States, who were last year’s and this year’s champions. With the most championship experience and their own unique expertise in winning, they were perceived as the strongest competitors by the Korean team.

These participants are experts in Audi systems. Lim Min-hyuk remarked, “I am curious about what new technologies will be integrated when Audi launches new models as the world’s first.” To this end, Audi service technicians study various video materials about the technologies of these new models before they are launched and also participate in hands-on training at the training center.
