Samsung SDI announced on the 1st that it held its “54th Anniversary Ceremony” at its Giheung headquarters.
Attending the ceremony were President Choi Yoon-ho and key executives, along with more than 200 employees.
In his commemorative speech, President Choi expressed gratitude to the employees and partners who have dedicated themselves to the company throughout its 54 years of challenging history. He noted, “Samsung SDI has been preparing for the future in unison over the past few years and is steadily advancing toward our 2030 goals.”
He continued, “The temporary slowdown in growth within the electric vehicle and battery markets, which we expected to grow rapidly, presents us with a new crisis.” He added, “We must overcome this crisis and turn it into an opportunity for leapfrogging.”
To achieve this, President Choi urged, “Let’s ensure we have a competitive technological advantage that can lead the market by 2030.” He emphasized the importance of timely development of new battery models and technologies, including all-solid-state batteries, 46mm cylindrical batteries, and dry electrodes. He also highlighted the need for a broad lineup from premium electric vehicle batteries to bulk products like LFP batteries. The importance of seizing next-generation technologies and timely market entry for new electronic materials was also underscored.
Furthermore, President Choi stated, “Let us lead the market through customer satisfaction via quality.” He explained that during market contractions, quality differentiation becomes one of the critical competitive advantages that customers seek. He stressed the need to enhance quality through the integration of AI technologies into the quality management process, aiming to secure the best quality. This indicates the necessity to widen the gap further against competitors through a more robust quality management system and operational processes.
He further mentioned, “As the market contracts and competition becomes fiercer, customers are demanding stronger price competitiveness.” He encouraged all employees to collaborate in generating ideas to achieve world-class cost competitiveness.
President Choi referenced the saying that stepping out from the dark clouds heralds brighter days, encouraging employees that through significant change and innovation unlike anything seen before, we can quickly embrace a brilliant future and accelerate towards our goal of becoming a ‘top-tier global company by 2030.’
Meanwhile, the ceremony included employee awards, viewing of a founding anniversary video, and a founding speech, all streamed live online to all domestic business locations.
