KG Mobility has announced that it has signed an MOU for autonomous driving technology collaboration with PONY.AI Mobility and PonyLink (formerly GemVaxLink).

The MOU signing ceremony, held on the 3rd at KG Tower, was attended by KGM’s Chairman Kwak Jae-sun, CEO Hwang Ki-young, KG ICT CEO Lee Sang-jun, and officials including PONY.AI Chairman James Peng and PonyLink Chairman Nam Kyung-pil.

With this MOU, KGM plans to integrate its autonomous driving systems with PONY.AI’s technology to develop autonomous vehicles, and will collaborate with PonyLink on various projects related to autonomous vehicles, including taxis and buses.

PONY.AI is recognized as a global leader in autonomous vehicle technology, leveraging key technologies such as artificial intelligence, big data, and mapping systems. PonyLink possesses integrated control center technology, mobile communication core network technology, and connected car technology.

KGM’s Chairman Kwak Jae-sun stated, “Through this MOU, KGM plans to work together on the joint development of controllers for the development of autonomous vehicle platforms, as well as on the development of driver assistance and autonomous driving systems.”

He added, “In the future, we will continue to develop a complete lineup of eco-friendly vehicles such as SUV electric vehicles and high-performance hybrid SUVs, enhance autonomous driving technologies, and provide differentiated integrated mobility services to support our customers’ valuable lives.”

Meanwhile, KGM signed an MOU last October with Autonomous a2z, the leading autonomous driving software company in Korea, to collaborate on the development of autonomous driving systems and manufacturing autonomous vehicles. Going forward, the company aims to enhance the completeness of its autonomous driving technology through collaboration with various key technology companies in the autonomous driving field.
