You can now check driving scores on Naver Maps and develop safe driving habits.
Naver has announced that it will introduce the ‘driving score’ feature through an update of the Naver Maps app. The update will be rolled out sequentially starting from the 7th. Furthermore, users will be able to join DB Insurance’s ‘Naver Maps Safe Driving Discount Special Clause’ based on their driving scores to also receive premium discounts.
The driving score is a score calculated out of 100 points that analyzes driving records while receiving route guidance from the Naver Maps navigation system. It reflects various factors during driving, such as the distance of speeding and the number of sudden accelerations or decelerations. The driving score is automatically updated every time a journey ends. This will help users foster safe driving habits by adhering to road traffic regulations.
To help users manage their driving scores more effectively, a ‘Driving Analysis Page’ will also be introduced. On the Driving Analysis Page, users can view various metrics, including their driving score, score change graphs, overall average score across users, total driving time, and driving distance. Additionally, an advanced ‘Driving History’ feature will be available. The ‘Driving History’ launched last September enables users to check their travel routes, time taken, and driving distance by individual driving records at a glance. This update will add features for detailed analysis of driving history, providing intuitive information on speeding sections and speed, as well as instances of sudden acceleration or deceleration, which users can use for future driving habit improvements.
Moreover, users can receive automobile insurance discount benefits based on their driving scores. DB Insurance will launch the ‘Naver Maps Safe Driving Discount Special Clause’ on the 9th, which offers discounts on premiums linked to Naver Maps driving scores. Users who have driven more than 500 km through the Naver Maps navigation in the last six months and have a driving score of 71 or above will be eligible for premium discounts. From the 9th, full details can be found through the banner for the DB Insurance Safe Driving Discount Special Clause on the Naver Maps app, and users can join the clause if needed.
Choi Seung-rak, the department head overseeing Naver Maps products, stated, “Naver Maps has evolved into an all-in-one platform supporting users’ overall journeys. In the navigation sector, we continue to enhance our services to provide more precise directions and various user-customized features. The Naver Maps driving score is a model that systematically analyzes users’ driving patterns, supporting the fostering of safe driving habits while also enabling them to enjoy automobile insurance discount benefits. We are committed to expanding collaboration with DB Insurance to provide even more diverse benefits to users.”
Additionally, Naver and DB Insurance will conduct an event in July where users checking their driving scores on the Naver Maps app will have a chance to win Naver Pay points through a lucky draw.
