‘Renault Grand Koleos displayed at the Busan Motor Show’

Renault Korea successfully debuted its new D SUV, the “New Renault Grand Koleos,” at the 2024 Busan Mobility Show, which concluded on the 7th.

More than 600,000 visitors attending the 2024 Busan Mobility Show showed significant interest in the “New Renault Grand Koleos,” which was unveiled globally for the first time at the Renault Korea booth, and the 100% electric vehicle “Renault Scenic E-Tech Electric” set to launch in Korea next year.

The response to the New Renault Grand Koleos, which is set to launch this fall, was particularly fervent. According to an internal survey, visitors responded most enthusiastically to vehicle features unique to the New Renault Grand Koleos, such as the passenger seat display and various content utilization, as well as its spacious and practical interior layout. Additionally, there was great satisfaction with the vehicle’s design.

Since its unveiling on June 27, the number of advance reservations for the New Renault Grand Koleos received during the Busan Mobility Show through the Renault Korea booth and nationwide exhibitions reached 7,135 by July 7. Considering that price and driving-related information have not yet been disclosed, this reflects the high expectations customers have for the New Renault Grand Koleos.

Following the Busan Mobility Show, the New Renault Grand Koleos will be showcased at major locations nationwide from July 8 to 19, including the flagship showroom “Renault Seongsu” in Seoul, as well as “Starfield Suwon,” and the Busan “Dongnae Business Center,” and “Daejeon Business Center.”

Known by the development project codename “Aurora1,” the New Renault Grand Koleos continues the success story of Koleos, the first SUV from Renault and one of its most successful global models. The name “Koleos” is inspired by the Latin word “coleoptera,” implying strength and robustness, combined with “Grand” to reflect signifies the new body size and the best-in-class rear seat space, denoting Renault’s top-tier SUV model.

‘Renault Grand Koleos’

The New Renault Grand Koleos embodies Renault’s core value of being “a car to accompany you every day” for both drivers and passengers. With a class-leading wheelbase of 2,820mm, it offers generous and comfortable rear seating space. Based on the CMA platform, 18% of the body consists of ultra-high-strength “hot-press forming (HPF)” parts, demonstrating its excellent safety features. Additionally, it employs up to 31 advanced driving assistance systems (ADAS), with the “Active Driver Assist,” equivalent to level 2 autonomous driving, included as standard across all trims. It comes equipped with real-time TMAP navigation and a voice recognition system, NUGU Auto, with support for wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto for a convenient driving experience. The vehicle also offers continuous wireless updates for key electronic systems through FOTA (Firmware Over The Air).

The ‘openR panoramic screen’ applied in the New Renault Grand Koleos is the first of its kind in a domestic model, extending the display to the passenger seat. A total of three 12.3-inch screens create a seamless display from the driver’s to the passenger’s side. Passengers can independently access cinema OTT services like Disney+, Tving, YouTube through the Naver “Whale” web browser, social media, and FLO music streaming services by connecting Bluetooth earphones. Renault Korea will provide customers with 5 years of free 5G data for utilizing OTT and music streaming connectivity services in the New Renault Grand Koleos (subject to restrictions in cases of excessive data use).

The New Renault Grand Koleos will be available with two powertrain options: hybrid and gasoline. The top-tier trim inspired by Renault Group’s traditional sports car brand Alpine, “Esprit Alpine,” will also be newly introduced to the domestic market. The new version of the E-Tech Hybrid system equipped in the New Renault Grand Koleos includes a class-leading battery capacity (1.64kWh) combined with a hybrid-exclusive 1.5-liter gasoline turbo engine and a multi-mode automatic transmission. The system generates a maximum output of 245 horsepower, ranking it among the best in class. The gasoline model features a 2.0-liter turbo direct-injection engine (211 horsepower / 33.1 kg.m of torque) paired with a 7-speed DCT (dual-clutch transmission) for a dynamic driving experience. The Esprit Alpine trim of the gasoline model will be available in both front-wheel drive (2WD) and all-wheel drive (4WD) variants.

Meanwhile, the New Renault Grand Koleos will continue its advance reservations and, after the price announcement in mid-July, will proceed with vehicle displays and core contracts in Renault Korea showrooms nationwide.
