Peugeot has made a strategic price adjustment to its electric models, the e-208 and e-2008 SUV, lowering their official consumer prices by as much as 14 million KRW, making a bold move in the compact electric vehicle competition.
Peugeot is tackling the currently sluggish consumer sentiment towards electric vehicles head-on, ensuring that more customers can experience the advanced driving performance and efficiency recognized in Europe. The official consumer prices for the e-208 and e-2008 SUV (2023 models) have been reduced by 13.1 million KRW and 14 million KRW respectively, placing the new prices between 38.9 million and 41.9 million KRW.
The automaker is ramping up its electrification strategy to leap forward as a leading mobility brand in the European electric vehicle market by 2025. In fact, Peugeot has spearheaded the European B-segment electric vehicle market for two consecutive years in 2022 and 2023 with the e-208 and e-2008 SUV, showcasing its prowess in electrification. This price reduction is aimed at increasing public accessibility to Peugeot’s electric vehicle lineup in the Korean market and widely promoting its excellent technology that leads the European compact electric vehicle market.
The Peugeot e-2008 SUV Allure trim has been significantly reduced by 14 million KRW, making it available for purchase at 38.9 million KRW. The GT trim has also seen a reduction of 13 million KRW, now priced at 41.9 million KRW. Meanwhile, the compact electric hatchback e-208 is now available at around 39.9 million KRW, down approximately 25% from its original price of 53 million KRW. Additionally, applying government and local subsidies of over 5 million KRW each (based on Gyeonggi Province) and promotional benefits on-site will lower the actual purchase price to the mid-30 million KRW range, making it even more reasonable to own an imported electric vehicle.
The Peugeot e-208 and e-2008 SUV are ideal urban electric vehicles that offer reasonable driving ranges suited for everyday use. With a single charge, the e-208 can drive up to 280 km, while the e-2008 can cover a maximum of 260 km. Furthermore, they boast some of the best efficiency ratings in their class, with the e-208 achieving 5.7 km/kWh and the e-2008 SUV at 5.2 km/kWh, both falling within the energy efficiency grade of 2 (5.0–5.7 km/kWh).
Along with their high efficiency, these compact vehicles provide excellent mobility, a stable ride unaffected by road conditions, and the same spaciousness and advanced features as their internal combustion engine counterparts, offering competitive advantages optimized for urban driving. Moreover, the driver-centric ergonomic ‘i-Cockpit®’ interior layout presents driving-related information intuitively, aiding safe driving even in complex urban environments.
Additionally, Peugeot’s electric vehicles come with advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) that are among the best in their class as standard. Considering that first-time buyers are prevalent in this segment, the e-208 and e-2008 SUV GT trims are equipped with adaptive cruise control (ACC), active blind spot monitoring systems, and lane positioning assist systems, significantly reducing the risk of accidents and vehicle damage.
Representative Bang Sil of Stellantis Korea stated, “This price adjustment is a strong commitment to reaffirm the allure of Peugeot’s electric vehicles, which possess excellent economic and technological qualities.” He added, “I am confident that amid intensified competition in the compact electric vehicle market, the competitively priced e-208 and e-2008 SUV models will become a preferred choice for customers considering electric vehicle purchases in the 30 to 40 million KRW range.”
