Porsche has announced plans to introduce the all-electric 4th generation Cayenne in 2025, followed by models featuring pure electric, internal combustion, and hybrid engines through 2030.

For the past 20 years, the Cayenne has been recognized in the market for combining Porsche’s unique performance with excellent daily usability and off-road capabilities. The upcoming models will continue this success story while maintaining the distinctive features of the Cayenne.

The 3rd generation Cayenne, released last year after the most extensive product upgrade in the brand’s history, is set to evolve further through major technological investments. The focus will be on improving the efficiency of the V8 engine developed and manufactured at Porsche’s Zuffenhausen plant, and extensive technical measures will be taken to develop a legally compliant twin-turbo engine.

Porsche is committed to electrification. Oliver Blume, Chairman of the Board of Porsche AG, stated, “Our product strategy aims to ensure that by 2030, over 80% of our new vehicles will consist of pure electric models, in line with customer demand and global electrification trends.” The completely newly developed 4th generation Cayenne is expected to greatly contribute to Porsche’s electrification plans.

The 4th generation Cayenne will be based on the 800-volt Premium Platform Electric (PPE) architecture. Michael Steiner, Member of the R&D Board of Porsche AG, emphasized, “Thanks to the flexibility of the PPE architecture, we can integrate the latest technologies in high-voltage systems, powertrains, and chassis, elevating the Cayenne to a completely new level in various aspects such as driving performance.” He also emphasized that they aim to pursue development goals that include Porsche’s unique driving characteristics, high-capacity batteries, reliable charging, high efficiency, and a high level of convenience and usability.

The fully electric Cayenne prototype, which has completed initial test drives at Porsche’s development center in Weissach, is currently undergoing road testing. Michael Schätzle, Vice President of the Cayenne product line, stated, “The driving tests in real-world environments have begun as an important process in new vehicle development. Until the launch, the prototype will complete millions of kilometers of testing in extreme climates and terrains worldwide.” He mentioned that such tests will ensure the durability and reliability of the hardware, software, and all vehicle features meet Porsche’s high-quality standards.
