The Mercedes-Benz Charitable Committee announced on the 10th that they conducted a donation ceremony at Busan City Hall located in Yeonje-gu, Busan, and delivered 500 million won raised through the “11th Mercedes-Benz Give ‘N Race” to support child protection organizations.
The donation ceremony held on the 7th was attended by Matthias Weitl, Chairman of the Mercedes-Benz Charitable Committee, Park Hyung-jun, Mayor of Busan, Choi Byung-han, President of Busan MBC, Kim Byeong-gi, Head of the Children and Future Foundation, and Woo Mi-ok, Director of the Busan Women and Family Office.
Starting in 2017, the “Give ‘N Race” event combines charity with running and is one of the flagship charitable activities of the Mercedes-Benz Charitable Committee aimed at supporting vulnerable children and youth in South Korea. Since its inception, a total of 6.6 billion won has been raised, which is fully utilized for domestic charitable activities.
This year, the Give ‘N Race event generated over 1 billion won in donations, of which 500 million won was given to Busan for the support of child protection organizations focusing on therapy, prevention of recurrence, case management, and the prevention of child abuse for the victims in the region.
Matthias Weitl, Chairman of the Mercedes-Benz Charitable Committee, expressed, “It is even more meaningful to support protective institutions for abused children in Busan through the donation event, which promotes a culture of giving in the region. We will continue to strengthen our role as a corporate citizen and lead genuine charitable activities to support children and neighbors in need.”
Meanwhile, marking its 10th anniversary this year, the Mercedes-Benz Charitable Committee has donated a total of 47.4 billion won to society as of the first quarter of 2024, recording the largest scale in the domestic imported car industry.
