BMW Tech Office Asia-Pacific Korea participated in ‘NextRise 2024’, the largest startup event in Korea held on the 13th and 14th of last month at COEX in Gangnam, Seoul.
BMW Tech Office Asia-Pacific Korea engages in various tasks such as brainstorming ideas for new cars and technologies, facilitating innovative experiences, discovering partners in Korea, and developmental projects.
NextRise is an event organized by the Korea International Trade Association (KITA) and the Korea Development Bank (KDB), where industry stakeholders including startups, investors, and corporations gather to share innovative technologies and know-how.
Since 2021, BMW Tech Office Asia-Pacific Korea has participated in NextRise, and this year they operated a booth with four startups that completed the BMW Startup Garage program: DeepbrainAI, Protopie, Flow, and AirConsole.
During the two-day event, participants shared experiences from prototyping projects they conducted with BMW and showcased their technologies and companies to over 200 investors.
Among the four participating firms, AirConsole was notably selected as an official partner of the BMW Group following a pilot project, highlighting their successful support case. AirConsole supplies gaming platform technology to several models currently in production, including the BMW New 5 Series and New X2.
Additionally, the BMW Group shared its expertise in future mobility through a panel talk. Kai Patrick, Head of BMW Startup Garage and New Technology Partnerships, participated in a session themed around “Future Mobility Industry” to discuss insights with other panelists.
Meanwhile, the BMW Startup Garage, which has been operating since 2015, is a program designed to discover and support promising startups for the technological innovation of next-generation mobility. The BMW Group offers support not just through financial assistance, but also by validating whether the uncompleted services or technologies of the venture firms can be commercialized and by purchasing launched prototypes.
