LG Energy Solution announced its participation in ‘InterBattery Europe 2024’ taking place from the 19th to the 21st (local time) in Munich, Germany.
This year, LG Energy Solution will showcase a diverse portfolio of energy storage systems (ESS) under the theme of ‘Beyond Batteries’ (more customer value beyond batteries).
Key products aimed at penetrating the global ESS market, including Europe, will be exhibited, such as the enblock E, the first residential ESS product using LFP cells, and the new modularized solutions based on LFP long cells.
LG Energy Solution stated, “Europe has a high proportion of renewable energy generation and advanced environmental regulations, making it a market with significant potential demand for ESS.” They also mentioned that they will present key strategies and product portfolios to lead the European and global ESS market through InterBattery Europe 2024.
According to BloombergNEF, a market research firm specializing in energy, the European ESS market size is expected to grow approximately sixfold from 13.7 GWh last year to 76.6 GWh by 2030.
As a highlight, they will display the enblock E, the first residential ESS product to apply LFP cells. This product allows users to easily adjust capacity by modularly adding packs. It can accommodate up to five packs, expanding capacity to 15.5 kWh. Additionally, it is versatile for both indoor and outdoor installation and can be set up within 15 minutes as it is delivered pre-assembled.
A sample of the JF1 pack, which can be compatible with residential, commercial, and power applications, will also be showcased. This product has garnered significant interest from customers due to its price competitiveness and advanced processing technology that offers high energy density.
Medium to large-sized ESS products for power grids and transmission networks will also be introduced.
In particular, the new product ‘New Modularized Solutions’ utilizing high-capacity LFP long cells, such as the JF2 cell, will be revealed for the first time. This modular container-type product can be configured according to its intended use and is delivered to customers as a fully assembled unit, enhancing convenience. Fire prevention solutions have also been incorporated to improve product safety.
UPS battery solutions, which provide emergency power to critical facilities such as data centers, IT departments, and telecommunications facilities, will also be featured. Unlike conventional UPS batteries which primarily used lead-acid batteries, LG Energy Solution’s UPS batteries use lithium-ion technology, boasting high energy efficiency and long lifespan.
LG Energy Solution reaffirmed, “Based on our overwhelming technological prowess and extensive production experience, we will further strengthen our ESS portfolio and provide valuable experiences to our customers.”
