Mercedes-Benz Korea will be launching the 2-door open-top model, the ‘All-New Mercedes-Benz CLE Cabriolet’.
The CLE Cabriolet is a model that allows you to enjoy the latest technology and dynamic driving performance of the CLE Coupe, paired with an open-air experience. It will be available in South Korea in two lineups: the CLE 200 Cabriolet and the CLE 450 4MATIC Cabriolet.
In addition, Mercedes-Benz Korea will celebrate the launch of the CLE Cabriolet by offering an exclusive online sales event for the “All-New CLE 200 Cabriolet Online Exclusive” from the 20th of this month, limited to just 15 units. The online exclusive model features an Alpine Gray solid exterior with a red soft top, emphasizing a metropolitan vibe, and is equipped with the Burmester® 3D surround sound system, providing a high-quality audio experience for passengers.
Killian Tellin, Vice President of Product, Marketing, and Digital Business at Mercedes-Benz Korea, stated, “The All-New CLE Cabriolet is a model that continues the tradition of Mercedes-Benz open-top dream cars with its design that harmonizes sportiness and classic elegance, dynamic driving performance, and state-of-the-art technology.” He added, “With the arrival of the convertible season, this model will be the perfect choice for customers seeking luxury and an exceptional open-air experience.”
The exterior of the CLE Cabriolet, featuring a black soft top as standard, boasts sporty proportions characterized by a long hood, extended wheelbase, low height, and short overhangs, accentuating its dynamic design unique to the CLE Cabriolet.
The soft top of the CLE Cabriolet employs a multi-layer structure that enhances insulation, maintaining optimal indoor temperature year-round while reducing external wind and noise. It can be opened and closed within 20 seconds at speeds of up to 60 km/h, and it operates electrically for quieter operation.
The CLE Cabriolet is equipped with functionalities that enhance open-top driving comfort in any weather. First, the ‘Aircap®’, located above the windshield and behind the headrests, helps maintain a consistent airflow by creating a barrier over the heads of passengers to prevent drafts and ensure a comfortable interior. The ‘Airscarf®’ releases warm air from below the headrests, keeping the passengers’ necks and heads warm in cold weather, helping maintain body temperature even in low temperatures.
Additionally, the 11.9-inch vertically-oriented LCD central display can tilt from 15 to 40 degrees, minimizing reflections and glare during open-top driving. The optional leather seats feature a special coating that reflects near-infrared rays, maintaining a comfortable indoor temperature even in high outdoor temperatures, potentially reducing the indoor perceived temperature by up to 12 degrees compared to ordinary leather seats in the summer.
Despite being a convertible, the CLE Cabriolet offers a spacious interior with a wheelbase of 2,865mm. Compared to the previous C-Class Cabriolet, rear knee space has increased by 72mm, and shoulder and elbow space have increased by 19mm, enhancing second-row space efficiency. The trunk has a capacity of 385 liters (295 liters when the top is down), and the rear seatbacks can be folded down if more loading space is needed.
Being based on the CLE Coupe, the CLE Cabriolet comes equipped with the same infotainment system, engines, and convenience features as its coupe counterpart.
First, all lineups feature the 3rd generation MBUX infotainment system, which supports automated vehicle settings, as well as a navigation system based on real-time traffic information from T-map Mobility. Furthermore, the CLE 450 4MATIC Cabriolet allows access to various entertainment platforms, video conferencing, gaming, and streaming services through third-party apps.
The CLE 200 Cabriolet and CLE 450 4MATIC Cabriolet are powered by a 4-cylinder and 6-cylinder gasoline turbo engine respectively, working in combination with a 9-speed transmission developed in line with the Integrated Starter Generator (ISG) for optimal performance. The CLE 200 Cabriolet delivers a peak output of 204 horsepower and a maximum torque of 32.6 kg·m, while the CLE 450 4MATIC Cabriolet boasts a peak output of 381 horsepower and a maximum torque of 51 kg·m.
Moreover, both models are equipped with a mild hybrid system featuring a 48V onboard electric system, which provides up to 17kW of extra power during engine startups via a 2nd generation integrated starter generator, assisting in smooth and quick engine starts, gliding, boosting, and regenerative braking. Both models have also received low-emission vehicle certification.
The vehicles come with features such as ▲ the cutting-edge Driving Assistance Package Plus ▲ Digital Light that optimizes headlamp brightness based on road lighting conditions, traffic situations, driving routes, and weather ▲ MBUX augmented reality navigation which displays virtual driving guidance lines based on footage taken by the front camera for intuitive navigation ▲ a parking package with a 360° camera as standard driving assistance features.
Convenience features include ▲ an Easy-Entry function to assist rear seat access, ▲ a toll settlement system that displays high-pass payment amounts and balances on the central display, ▲ front seat ventilation and heating, ▲ heated steering wheel, and a heated windshield washer system as standard offerings.
The CLE 450 4MATIC Cabriolet includes not only the Burmester® 3D surround sound system with Dolby Atmos® sound technology for an immersive audio experience, but also features like ▲ MBUX Interior Assist, ▲ head-up display, ▲ front multi-contour seats, ▲ Energizing Package Plus, and ▲ Air Balance Package, providing a more luxurious vehicle experience.
The prices are set at 78.8 million won for the CLE 200 Cabriolet, 85 million won for the CLE 200 Cabriolet Online Exclusive, and 108.8 million won for the CLE 450 4MATIC Cabriolet.
