SK On has been selected as an outstanding supplier for Ferrari. SK On is Ferrari’s only battery supplier.
On the 26th (local time), SK On announced on the 28th that it was selected as an outstanding supplier at the ‘Podio Ferrari’ event held at the Ferrari headquarters in Maranello, Italy. Jeong Gu-pil, in charge of EU sales at SK On, attended the awards ceremony and received a plaque from Gianmaria Fulgenzi, the Chief Product Development Officer (CPDO) at Ferrari.
Ferrari awards outstanding suppliers among its strategic partners that have collaborated over the past year in technology development, enhancing competitiveness, and innovation. Being recognized as an outstanding supplier at Podio Ferrari signifies acknowledgment of quality and expertise by a top luxury brand.
This year, a total of 8 award-winning companies were selected across various categories, with SK On receiving an award in the ‘Fearless Organization’ category. Ferrari noted SK On’s capability to meet stringent technical requirements in developing battery cells for use in sports cars.
SK On has been supplying batteries for Ferrari’s first PHEV model ‘SF90 Stradale’ and the convertible version ‘SF90 Spider’ since 2019. Last year, the limited-edition special series ‘SF90 XX Stradale’ and ‘SF90 XX Spider’ also featured SK On batteries.
SK On continues to supply batteries for Ferrari’s PHEV models ‘296 GTB’ and ‘296 GTS’, which were released in 2021 and 2022, respectively. The two companies also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in March for battery cell technology innovation.
Jeong stated, “We are recognized for our outstanding technological capabilities by the world’s leading supercar brand,” adding that “we will write a new history in supercar electrification based on both companies’ unique strengths.”
