‘Hyundai Ioniq 5’

Hyundai Motor Company announced on the 1st that it will conduct a special promotion in line with government policies aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions and promoting eco-friendly vehicles.

Hyundai will offer a price discount of 1 million won as an incentive for participation to the K-EV100 member companies, which are leading the transition to eco-friendly company vehicles, and companies targeted by the eco-friendly vehicle purchase goal system.

Additionally, employees of the participating companies will also be eligible for the same discount when purchasing eco-friendly vehicles.

Until now, Hyundai has been providing a price discount of 1 million won specifically for the Nexo model as an incentive for participating companies. However, starting May 1, the eligibility for the policy participation incentive will be expanded to cover seven eco-friendly models from Hyundai and Genesis, including the Nexo.

Companies that are members of the K-EV100 and are subject to the eco-friendly vehicle purchase goal system will be able to receive a price discount of 1 million won when purchasing any of the seven eco-friendly models: ▲Nexo ▲Kona Electric ▲Ioniq 5 ▲Ioniq 6 ▲GV60 ▲Electrified GV70 ▲Electrified G80. This discount can be combined with other government subsidies and discounts available to general customers.

This special promotion by Hyundai aims to actively participate in the government’s greenhouse gas reduction policy and will run from May 1 to July 31.

K-EV100 member companies are private companies that have declared their intention to convert their business vehicles to eco-friendly vehicles by 2030 and submitted an application for membership to the Ministry of Environment. As of April 2024, about 370 companies are included in this category.

The eco-friendly vehicle purchase goal system is a program established by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy that sets and announces purchasing goals for eco-friendly vehicles for corporations that possess or use multiple vehicles in order to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. As of 2023, about 3,000 corporations are subject to this program. (※ A list of relevant companies for 2024 is scheduled to be announced in May this year)

Member companies of K-EV100 can be confirmed through the Korea Automobile Environmental Association’s website, while companies subject to the eco-friendly vehicle purchase goal system can be confirmed on the Korea Energy Agency’s website.

A Hyundai official stated, “As the largest automobile manufacturer in the country, we will actively participate in government policies” and added, “We will continue to work to support the transition to eco-friendly vehicles.”
