LG Uplus is operating a ‘TEUM Luggage’ service that offers free storage for travelers’ luggage in areas with high foot traffic from tourists.

After about three months of trial operation starting from February, LG Uplus will officially launch the ‘TEUM Luggage’ service in May. This service allows customers to store their travel luggage at LG Uplus locations located in tourist-heavy areas such as Gangnam Station and Hongdae Entrance.

The service will be available from May 1 at the ‘il-sang-bi-il-sang-eui-teum by U+ (hereafter referred to as teum by U+)’, located near Exit 11 of Gangnam Station, and from May 17 at the ‘il-sang-eui-teum’ Hongdae Entrance branch, which is situated near Exit 4 of Hongdae Station. il-sang-eui-teum is an offline space providing various content for customer interaction, in addition to communication service subscriptions.

TEUM Luggage can be used for free by anyone, regardless of their mobile service provider, whether they are locals or foreigners. The plan is to expand the service area to not only capture existing customers but also potential customers, facilitating a more comfortable journey for both incoming and departing foreigners without heavy bags.

LG Uplus launched this service keeping in mind the MZ generation of travelers who often prefer to find accommodation in relatively cheaper suburban areas. Previously, travelers would either waste time leaving their luggage at hotels or face the inconvenience of dragging heavy suitcases around. By using the TEUM Luggage service, they can enjoy their travels without these hassles and also experience various pop-up exhibitions at teum by U+.

During three months of pilot testing for the TEUM Luggage service, LG Uplus surveyed customers who had difficulties storing their luggage. The results showed that many customers utilized the TEUM Luggage service for short tasks. In fact, 70% of the customers stored their luggage for about an hour, while 15% stored it for two hours, and another 15% for more than three hours.

Customers expressed positive feedback, stating comments such as, “It’s amazing that it’s free in expensive Gangnam,” “I can’t imagine dragging a suitcase around in the cold for three hours,” “I was able to comfortably go around thanks to the TEUM Luggage,” and “It seems that even foreigners would find it convenient since they can store large suitcases.”

Initially, LG Uplus will provide TEUM Luggage service at teum by U+ and the Hongdae Entrance branch of il-sang-eui-teum, gradually expanding to more stores. The teum by U+ is open every day from 11:00 AM to 8:30 PM, except Mondays, and the Hongdae Entrance branch of il-sang-eui-teum operates daily from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM, excluding Sundays.

Lee Hyun-seung, head of Omnichannel CX, stated, “We discovered that many locals and foreigners were carrying luggage around Gangnam and Hongdae, which is why we prioritized operating the TEUM Luggage service in these areas. We will continue to identify customer needs and leverage LG Uplus’s infrastructure to provide a wide range of experiences.”
