Bridgestone has once again been named in the Supplier Engagement Leader list by the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), an international environmental non-profit organization.

This is the sixth time Bridgestone has received an ‘A’ rating, the highest score in CDP’s supplier engagement evaluation.

The supplier engagement evaluation is a program that analyzes companies’ climate change responses and carbon emissions reduction activities throughout their supply chains. Based on performance and climate change response efforts, CDP assigns ratings through this evaluation.

Bridgestone places sustainability at the core of its management and business, accelerating transformation to achieve its vision of providing societal and customer value as a sustainable solutions company by 2050, centered around the “Bridgestone E8 Commitment.” The company has strengthened its unique sustainability business model to establish a foundation for creating sustainable value. This business model integrates the company’s efforts to realize carbon neutrality and circular economy through the entire value chain, from the ‘production and sale’ of products to their ‘usage’ and ‘regeneration’ as raw materials. Furthermore, Bridgestone will continue to enhance this model to be more circular and restorative, striving to realize an eco-friendly world.

In January 2023, Bridgestone received SBT (Science-Based Target) certification for its science-based medium-term goals regarding carbon emissions reduction and supplier engagement from the Science Based Target Initiative (SBTi).

To strengthen actions in the raw material sourcing process, Bridgestone actively employs its global sustainability procurement policy and requests suppliers to establish science-based reduction targets (SBT) and develop emission reduction plans to achieve carbon neutrality. Through these policies, Bridgestone enhances collaboration with suppliers and monitors the evaluation results of sustainability measures to provide support for their progress. Being recognized with the highest rating in the Supplier Engagement Leader list signifies Bridgestone’s sustainable efforts to create long-term environmental, social, and economic benefits for stakeholders across the supply chain.

More information related to this can be found in the 2023 Integrated Report – Bridgestone 3.0 Journey and on Bridgestone’s website in the sustainability section.

The “Bridgestone E8 Commitment” serves as the foundation for Bridgestone’s management based on the trust of future generations. Bridgestone promises to create value together with employees, society, partners, and customers to realize a sustainable society.
